Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Dunedin home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Dunedin.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Dunedin home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Hi! I’m a huge animal lover with a genuine passion for caring for pets and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away. I grew up with two to three dogs and a cat throughout my childhood, so being around animals has always been a big part of my life. Caring for pets comes very naturally to me, and I truly enjoy spending time with them.

I also spent a lot of time fostering kittens back home, caring for them from bottle-fed newborns all the way to adulthood. Through fostering, I gained experience with feeding routines, socialising shy kittens, administering medications, and caring for animals with different personalities and needs. This taught me patience, responsibility, and how to stay calm and attentive in unexpected situations.

I understand how important it is to leave your pets with someone trustworthy, so I always treat every dog and cat as if they were my own. I’m patient, reliable, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply quiet company, I’m happy to adapt to what makes them feel most comfortable.

I’m comfortable caring for multiple pets at once and always follow feeding schedules, exercise routines, and any special instructions carefully. I offer 30-minute walks or longer if your pet enjoys extra exercise and outdoor time. During house sitting stays, I can stay overnight and provide your pets with companionship and consistency in their own environment. I may briefly leave during the day to attend to personal errands or responsibilities, but I aim to spend as much time with your pets as possible to make sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and relaxed.

I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel reassured while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and wellbeing will always be my priority, and I only accept vaccinated pets to help ensure a safe environment for everyone. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your furry family members!

Hi there!
My name is Maegan and I am a trained, professional dog walker with 18 months experience. I have worked for both Hound Hikes in Wellington and currently work with K9 Trails Dog Adventures in Dunedin, where I've been employed for the past year. I have completed a pet first aid course and received a certificate in animal first aid. Through these roles I've cared for dogs of all sizes, temperaments, energy levels, and I'm confident handling anything from relaxed neighbourhood walks to adventurous outings.
I am a third year student at the University of Otago with hands-on experience caring for animals. My timetable and availability is flexible and I have my own car and my full drivers license.
I also have a cat (Mimi) and a dog (Heidi, labradoodle) so I completely understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for your pets. I am reliable, punctual and attentive, and I always aim to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and well-loved while accommodating to their routines and needs.

Working with animals is my passion and favorite thing to do! I have experience walking and loving on dogs and cats of all sizes and love making new animal friends. Currently, I am working towards a master's degree in Marine Science and studying the distribution of Hector's dolphins. Before moving to New Zealand, I spent two years caring for critically endangered sea turtle hatchlings and monitoring and handling nesting sea turtles. I also spent over a year feeding and providing daily care for farm animals, including goats, kunekune pigs, horses, bunnies, chickens, ducks, and turkeys, and I have years of experience as a babysitter, petsitter, and camp counselor. I have administered oral medicines to dogs and cats and ointments on farm animals, as well as provided basic grooming services like nail clipping, brushing, and bathing. I am detail-oriented, gentle, and patient, so I can accomodate any quirks or shyness your pets may have!
I have a dog and two cats at home in the United States that I miss dearly and used to walk and play with every day. Therefore, I understand how stressful it can be to entrust someone else with your pet and how much it means to have someone who loves and cares for your pet as much as you do. I am happy to discuss details and meet you and/or your pet beforehand to make sure everything is in order. I love being outdoors and can take your pet anywhere near your house, such as the beach or a nearby hiking trail. I am excited to use my passion and experience to give your pet all of the cuddles, adventure, playtime, and care they need! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Hey! I’m a huge animal lover and would absolutely love to look after your pets I’m reliable, caring, and very attentive to each pet’s individual needs, whether that’s long walks, playtime, or simply keeping them company and making them feel safe while you’re away.

I’ve grown up around animals and have hands-on experience with cats, dogs, Flemish rabbits, chickens, and ducks, so I’m comfortable with a wide range of animals and personalities. I also have experience giving cats oral medication and administering daily insulin injections to a family dog, so I’m confident caring for pets with extra medical needs. I also have experience with working farm dogs and puppies.

I’m happy to help with feeding, walks, cleaning up, basic grooming, and keeping routines consistent. I’ll also send photo updates and little check-ins so you always know your pet is happy and well cared for. I treat every animal like they’re my own, with lots of love and patience.

I’d love to meet you and your furry family!

Hi, I’m Lucinda, a reliable, calm, and genuinely caring pet and house sitter. My family has used this app for years whenever we travel, so I’ve grown up understanding how important it is to have someone dependable looking after both your pets and your home.

I’ve had hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats of different ages and temperaments, including energetic dogs that need regular walks and playtime, as well as more independent or anxious pets that need patience and consistency. I’m comfortable following established routines such as feeding schedules, daily walks, administering basic medications, cleaning litter trays, and keeping pets company so they feel settled while you’re away.

I work with children, which has made me calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and confident handling responsibility. If something unexpected comes up, I stay level-headed, communicate clearly, and follow instructions carefully. I treat every home with respect and every pet with genuine care, so you can leave knowing they are in safe hands.

Hi! I’m a young working professional with a big love for dogs and experience caring for pets. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and still help care for my family’s dog (Daisy), so I understand how important it is to find someone you trust to look after your furry friend.
I’m new to dog sitting and walking professionally, but I treat every dog like my own. I’m patient, reliable, and attentive to each dog’s personality and needs.
I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and love getting outdoors for walks and exercise.
My motivation for pet sitting is simple — I love dogs and know how important peace of mind is when trusting someone with your pet.
As a young professional, I’m responsible, organised, and happy to follow your routines and instructions closely to keep things consistent for your dog. I’ll always prioritise a caring environment, regular updates, and making sure your dog gets plenty of attention and care.

I am a second-year university student looking to save some extra money to support my studies. I absolutely love animals (especially cats and rabbits ), and I am always happy to help friends and family with their care. My family and I have always had animals in our home. While this has mostly been cats and some dogs, we have also had birds at different stages. Currently at home, we have my darling bunny, Snowy Joe, and my beautiful cat, Matewies.
Through my experience caring for our pets, I am confident in looking after animals, including grooming them regularly, cleaning up after them, playing with them, and ensuring they are healthy and well cared for and safe. Pet sitting would be such a fun and rewarding opportunity for me, especially after moving away from home, as I have been very homesick for my own pets.
I am available for daytime home check-ins as well as overnight stays. This includes with or without animals. I would prefer to care for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, birds, and small dogs. ️️️

Hi my name is Jane. I live in Dunedin our dog Stanley and cat Flo.
I have a deep affection for all pets, my favourites being dogs. I would have to say walking Stan is the favourite part of my day. Both our pets are on long term medication, so i have an understanding of the committment needed around caring for a pet and the importance of routine/feeding/medication needs.
I would be happy to dog walk, visit homes for pet care or even house sit where needed.
Knowing how important our pets are to the family dynamic I can appreciate peoples need for a reliable, trustworthy person to attend to their pets every wish and demand. I would be happy with both cats and dogs and from walking a big dog to keeping a cat company whilst watching its favourite tv show. The things we do for pets.

Hi I'm Emily.
I’m 23 and recently graduated from the University of Otago with a double degree in Law and Arts. I currently work as a law clerk at a family law firm here in Dunedin and also teach vinyasa yoga in my spare time.
I’m new to this app, but definitely not new to caring for animals! I grew up surrounded by pets: dogs, cats, fish, and even rabbits. I’ve always been the go-to pet sitter for family and friends. My family dog Bella dog is my family's absolute pride and joy, and I’m used to looking after more than one furry friend at a time.
I’m active, outdoorsy, and love long walks, especially on the beach at St Kilda, where I also volunteer as a lifeguard. Whether your pup loves adventures or just prefers cozy cuddles on the couch, I’m happy to match their energy.
I completely understand how stressful it can be to leave your pets behind, especially in busy kennels. My goal is to keep your pets happy, calm, and comfortable in their own environment while you’re away. I’m more than happy to stay at your home and stick to your pet’s usual routine to make things as smooth as possible.
If you’d like to chat or learn more about how I can help, flick me a message — I’d love to meet you and your furry family member!

I will be available to do dog walking on most days, and I will do house sitting in the weekends or fridays(week days can be discussed). I have house sit for a dog before.I love animals but cats especially! My whole life, I have grown up and been with pet dogs, cats, and even a pet turtle too. I know how to behave with animals, and I'll be responsible with any lovely pet.I'm very fit, and I run daily. If you have an active pet that needs more rigorous exercise, then I can absolutely help with that!As a university student, I often find that my weekends are free, so I would be an ideal choice if you needed to leave for the weekend.I think being a pet sitter is cool because I get to meet new animals! As I live in a flat, I would be limited in house sitting for your pet—there are no pets allowed in my accommodation.I'm new to pet sitting specifically, but I have worked in hospitality before, so I possess a good work ethic, and I am dependable.
