Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Burnham home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Burnham.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Burnham home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

I’m an easygoing and friendly Kiwi from a small town in New Zealand. I’m happiest in the mountains or at the beach, sitting in the sun with a good book or improving my photography.
Growing up, my mum was the manager of the SPCA so I was always surrounded by furry friends. Ducks, chickens, birds, bunnies, cats, dogs, fish - we had the lot! This absolutely influenced my love for animals.
The last two years I traveled extensively around Europe/UK caring for people's homes, guesthouses and pets. I have tons of great reviews on Trusted House Sitters and Worldpackers, which I’m more than happy to share.
Currently in NZ South Island between Westport/Christchurch and Wānaka. I work remotely and love hanging out with pets in my spare time! Most interested in dog walking/home visits but feel free to make any inquiry and I'll get back to you! ‍🦺🤍

I am 34 years old and someone that love dogs of all age and size. I have been really fortunate growing up to have the company of Daisy (dobermann) and Bunny (malinois). I currently have Bella (miniature poodle) as my precious family member. Treating pets with respect is a big part of my belief. They are our precious family members who deserve the love for their loyalty.
Having born and grown alongside my pet dogs, I have an understanding if their unique way of passive communication. More than anything, I love their enthusiasm and eagerness to explore and learn.
My main motivation for a pet sitter is to promote healthy life for pets, while earning income on the side. Getting steps up while earning some dollars...a win win situation.
I am currently a student at Otago University and can easily balance my schedule. I will be on yearly break from November till February, so would be available for most days of the week. Therefore, if you need someone who is reliable, honest and can be trusted with your pet, I am your guy.
I can offer pick-up and drop-offs and have reliable transport to get to your location without having the need to depend on public transport.
It would be a real pleasure to be part of your pet's long, healthy and satisfied life.

I’m a Christchurch local completing a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, with a research interest in nutrition. My flexible study lifestyle allows me to offer something many pets truly need while their owners are away — consistent presence, calm companionship, and attentive, home-based care.I have spent the past 10 years running Peace of Mind Pet Services as a professional house sitter and dog walker across Christchurch. Raised rurally and naturally outdoors-oriented, I’m familiar with local beach, bush, river and reserve environments and how different settings affect dogs’ arousal levels, confidence, and social comfort. My approach is strongly behaviour-aware and welfare focused. I work from a foundation of fear-free handling, positive reinforcement, and clear, predictable routines, prioritising emotional safety before obedience or expectations. I have extensive experience supporting:reactive and trigger-sensitive dogsanxious or rescue dogs adjusting to new environmentshigh-drive working and herding breedsdogs needing structured decompression walksdogs requiring careful management around people or other dogsI pay close attention to body language, threshold levels, and stress signals, adapting walks and daily structure to suit each individual dog. For reactive companions, this often means calm environments, distance management, thoughtful route selection, and building trust through consistency, verbal cues, play, and positive reinforcement rather than pressure.I believe pet sitting is not simply supervision — it’s co-regulation, companionship, and maintaining a dog’s sense of safety while their person is away. Many dogs benefit from having someone present most of the day, and my lifestyle allows me to provide exactly that. Hi, I’m Samy! I’m a genuine dog person — the kind who notices the small things, like a tail held a bit stiff, or a dog that needs a slower approach before it warms up. That instinct came from years around dogs, but it was sharpened during my time working the dog department at Maxi Zoo in Belgium, where I specialised in canine nutrition, breed-specific needs, and behaviour.
I offer walks and home visits for dogs of all breeds and energy levels, from the zoomies-all-day types to older dogs who just want steady, gentle company. I’m comfortable with dogs who have dietary needs, anxiety, or a few quirks, since that was a big part of my daily work. Small caged pets aren’t something I currently offer.
Walks run 30-60 minutes with photo updates so you’re never left wondering. I’m based in Rolleston and flexible through the week. Happy to do a quick meet-and-greet first, so your dog (and you) feel comfortable before booking.
I'm almost always available from Tuesday until Sunday to entertain, feed, walk or give company to your furry babies.
Availability:
Tuesday & Thursday after 10am until 7pm.
Wednesday & Friday after 10am until 4pm.
Saturday after 9am until 3pm.
Sunday to be discussed.

Hi my names Aurora!
I am 27 years old and currently live locally. I have five large dogs, Harvey, Scooby, Shaggy, Tails and Sonic. You can usually find myself and the dogs at the nearby forests, rivers and mountains.
I am a qualified veterinary nurse with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing from Otago Polytechnic. I have been working locally for the past few years. I'm passionate about animals and providing them with great care. My experience caring for others animals is mainly with companion animals such as dogs and cats but I do have a little bit of experience caring for some exotics. I also have experience caring for larger/farm animals such as chickens, sheep and cows.
The services I am able to offer include dog walking, happy to walk any breed/size of dog and I can walk them in quieter areas/forests/rivers if that is what they prefer. The walk lengths start at 30 minutes but can be tailored depending on what they need. Depending on the day I am available for these most afternoons and some mornings. I can pop in, feed and check on your pets/house a couple of times a day for 30 minutes each visit or longer if need be. I can also combine dog walking and house visits. I can potentially offer overnight stays depending on the dates, just message me to ask.
I am confident in my abilities to care for animals of any age and any demeanour and will happily tailor my care to what your pet requires. I can give your pet any medications they need including oral/injectable. I know what signs to look out for with acute injuries/illnesses and will respond accordingly.
I am happy to service outside of the Rolleston area eg. Darfield, Kirwee, West Melton etc. Depending on how far, there may be additional charges for travel
You will receive MANY photos of your pet in my care and I am happy to collect mail, water plants or any other household tasks that may need doing at no additional costs
