I've been raised around dogs so find it really hard not having one of my own, but travel is calling. I'm currently back for a couple of months sorting my visa so have a lot of free time on my hands and would love to have some furry companions keeping me active.I've&nbsp;volunteered at the spca with adult dogs, feeding, cleaning and walking them. We were also lucky enough to help out with short term foster for any dogs that needed a break from the shelter or sadly any that were ill.&nbsp;As such we've had many a dog pass through our care, from small and timid to large and bolshy and we've loved them all!Through the spca I've done the orientation course and am very familiar with their emotions (anxiety/agression) and will provide the best care to ensure your pet is relaxed and stress free.Please reach out if you're needing a dog walker, companion or pet sitter.I'd love to hear from you.


Hi, I’m Serena. I’m a mum of two teenagers (13 and 15) and married to my husband, Jason. We’re a dog-loving family and recently lost our much-loved Wheaten Terrier, so we’re very familiar with having dogs as part of everyday life and routines.
We live in a large, fully fenced home in Raumati South, close to parks, bush walks and the beach. There’s plenty of space both indoors and out, and lots of good walking options nearby. Around the house there are comfortable spots where dogs can relax, nap and settle in, whether they prefer a quiet corner or a sunny patch.
I work locally in the mornings and usually finish around midday, which means I’m home most afternoons for long walk at the beach, street or QEII Park. We’re also home most weekends. Dogs are well cared for here in a calm, family environment with regular exercise, downtime and attention.
As we recently lost our dog, your dog would have our full attention and access to our garden and home.

Ko Clara Hakaraia tōku ingoa, nō Ngāti Raukawa Te Au ki te Tonga te iwi. My name is Clara Hakaraia and I am currently based in Ōtaki Beach. I am a Celtic/Māori artist and student who has found themselves out of mahi for the first time in my life! It has been a scary prospect deciding where to go from here, however I have always carried a deep love and passion for animals. After being trusted to petsit for whānau and friends since moving to Ōtaki in 2023, I have gained valuable and diverse experience caring for many beautiful animals who I still remain close to. 
I have experience caring for an elderly and half deaf dog for as long as 9 months consecutively, as well as my most recent experience where I cared for two 12-month old blue heeler puppies for three months. These were amazing opportunities where I learnt a lot about my capabilities as a carer and anchored my passion as a pet lover. My whānau have been cat lovers my whole life as we lived in a small apartment in the city. This is where my love of animals first grew and since leaving home I have missed the presence and company of animals.

We are a family of dog lovers, myself and my two sons 9 and 12 and live in Raumati South. Our dog (Finlay) is a small Cavoodle mix and he would love some more canine company - he is full of energy and loves to play and chase.&nbsp;
I work from home during the week so can care for dogs whose owners are out at work and Finlay would love to host a furry friend and make them feel at home.
Our property has plenty of space for exploring outside and is fully fenced and also good for doggos who would rather chill and cuddle up on the couch and stay close to the humans (like our boy). We live close to the beach and get out for daily walks.
I grew up with dogs and we often look after family members dogs when they go away on holiday. I am reliable and trustworthy and will spoil your dog with love and attention and happily cater to their specific needs.


We're a pet loving family of 5 including our beautiful Malshi- Wikkee who pet sits with us (where appropriate). She has been regularly nicknamed a therapy dog for her calm, gentle, loving nature towards animals of all kinds and sizes.
We have experience in pet sitting and dog walking, as well as some positive reinforcement K9 training techniques that I invested in when we brought our girl into our family, that are tried and true to this day.&nbsp;
Our children absolutely adore animals of every kind great and small and we have found this is an amazing way that they get to experience other fur babies and staycations while being able to help you out and give you peace of mind that your babies are being well looked after in your absence. We have experience with cats, dogs (small-large), fish, and reptiles, but we love all animals and with the right care instructions, we are happy to care for your pets regardless of what form they may take ️
We like to provide regular updates when house sitting, including photos and videos of your pets adventures and antics (depending on what we discuss in terms of walks, drives, etc) because we know how much we miss our girl when we can't be with her and imagine you feel the same.
While you're away your pets will be treated like our own. Whatever they're allowed to do with you, we will mimic so that they feel everything is as normal as possible.&nbsp;

My approach
I specialise in one-on-one walks with dog-reactive dogs. Every walk aims to start and finish with a few minutes of peaceful observation of the world going by. I specifically avoid close proximity to other dogs, while still building ease with dogs at a distance.&nbsp;
If treats are provided, I use them to provide positive reinforcement. If no treats are provided, I offer a few of my own while focusing primarily on praise-based reinforcement and calm body language.&nbsp;
In-person introductions are crucial for everyone involved. Once I have an understanding of your dog's baseline personality and behaviour, as well as more details around their reactivity and triggers, we can decide together if we're a good, safe fit.&nbsp;
For my own safety, I prefer to walk dogs weighing under 30kg. That's negotiable, of course, on a dog-by-dog basis.
For dogs weighing under 15kg, I also have a fully-enclosed all-terrain dog carriage. This is a fantastic resource for senior dogs or dogs with joint issues or those recovering from illness or injury.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
My story&nbsp;&nbsp;
I'm a 40-year-old shift worker in the healthcare field, which gives me flexibility to walk and visit during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. I currently share my life with four cats and one dog. Dante is my goofball Beardie/Lab X. I've owned two previous dogs - my soul-dog, Topaz, was a Keeshond, and my family dog, Toby, was a Husky/Border Collie X. Spitzes and Collies are where most of my breed experience lies.&nbsp;
I've learned so much about dog reactivity over the last few years. When my dog Dante had an unforeseen scare as a young adolescent, he decided to make it clear forevermore that when it comes to new and unfamiliar dogs, he values his personal space. Cue a years-long crash course in dog behaviour and etiquette. The lessons are still ongoing, and day by day they become clearer and more positive. I have a new appreciation for otherwise good-natured dogs who struggle with proximity to other dogs. Helping them learn to down-regulate and find confidence in their surroundings has become a passion of mine for life.&nbsp;

Hi, I’m Jo. I have done house and pet sitting for various people, including friends and local families. I love animals and always treat them like part of the family while their owners are away.
I have my own pets — cats, dogs, and rabbits — so I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust to care for them properly. I’m experienced with different types of pets and make sure they stick to their usual routines — meals, walks, and plenty of attention. My 17 year old daughter, Sophie, is really keen to take dogs for walks and or house sit after school and on the weekend. I am no longer able to care for pets during the day as I have gone back to work but Sophie is available to take your dog for walks or do home visits to feed, cuddle and check on your pets and plants. Sophie also now has her own car and her license so Is able to go herself and take care of pets for when needed when it doesn't interrupt school or such. 
Sophie loves all breeds and sizes of dogs. She loves taking them for walks on the beach which is only a 5 minute walk from our house but can also take them for walks anywhere else they are used to.&nbsp;

Kia ora, I'm Tarsha, mother and Nanty, living on the Kāpiti Coast and occasionally in Wellington city. I enjoy time with whānau, drinking tea with friends, swims in the moana or awa, and am passionate about contributing to inclusive and resilient communities. When I reflect on whānau life it is impossible to imagine it without pets, which at the moment includes our ngeru (cat) Kewpee and our kuri (dog) Max. The uploaded gallery reflects our whānau love for animals over the years, with many photos also of my daughter, and dad (recently passed - love and miss you dad). Even though dad had alzheimers dementia his happy place was daily walking our kuri to the beach. All the animals brought him great delight, and he them. My personal gallery is full of our family of dogs, dad, cats, and kids. Although, I tend to be the one taking the photos of the whānau, including the animals, rather than trying to stage selfies of myself with any of them. Hopefully there's enough for you to get the idea. You'll also see photos in the gallery of our darling spoodle who also passed almost 2 years ago. She had been with us for over a decade after we rehomed her when she was two. We miss our loyal girl very much. So, if it's lots of evidence of your pets enjoying life while you're away, I can defo oblige. I typically work from home and will soon be going part-time, as I am keen to explore future options. Having heard positive things about Pawshake from a friend and family members, I decided to give it a proper go as I know petsetting is something I enjoy and am good at. In the past I, and my whānau, have cared for friends and family dogs both in my own home and in theirs. As well as a friends horse for several months, when my daughter also had her own horse. Recently I have started letting our old boy Max stay home, rather than taking him in to the city with me, as home is far more comfortable, stressfree, and kinder for him now he's ageing and challenged by stairs, his hearing and eyesight. That is also why I offer pet sitting in owners homes. Although accommodating dogs in my home is something I will consider for the future, especially as I am typically at home with my own animal family. For now though, I am offering pet/housesits between Ōtaki and Wellington/Hutt Valley, and more local pet visits and dog walking. My name is Steve &amp; I live in Paraparaumu Beach with my rescue dog.
I have been around dogs in particularly all my life. Either family pets or helping look after friends dogs.&nbsp;
I have been a volunteer at different Wellington animal rescue centres for over 5 years mostly being dog focused although also some cats. I am confident around &amp; used to dealing with dogs of all ages, sizes &amp; temperaments. I've also volunteered with a local dog training club so also familiar with dog training techniques .
I have used Pawshake services for a couple of years to assist with my dog when busy/out &amp; now I have some free time on my hands thought would be a good oppurtunity to help out with other local dogs.
When not walking/taking care of my dog or volunteering my other passions are travel &amp; music.
