I have two cats of my own and usually use Pawshake to find them sitters while I'm away, but as I'm in town over the holiday period this year I thought I'd return the service. 
I have a lifetime of experience with cats, dogs and horses. I grew up on a farm, and worked for over ten years as a horse trekking guide. 
In addition to having my own two kitties, my partner and I occasionally foster kittens for the SPCA, so are accustomed to administering medication and working with different personalities. I know how important it is that your pets can keep their routine and stay happy and stimulated while you're away. I'm Siobhan, 37, originally from Scotland but been living in Wellington since 2017. I am located in Newlands and work for the Government Monday to Friday.
I currently have two cats, Angus and Alba, who are very happy, healthy and spoilt! I grew up with pets (cats, dogs, small animals) and often pet sit for friends and colleagues. 
Angus came to me as a terrified rescue, and after some time and patience became my shadow (I ultimately foster failed and adopted him), so understand how to care for nervous/scared pets. Alba is also a rescue, who I adopted when she was 10 weeks old. 
I know how stressful it can sometimes be to find someone to look after your furry family members (having been let down by a sitter in the past), so thought I would offer my services :)
I'm based in Newlands, so can visit any of the surrounding suburbs that are a walk or on an easy bus route (distance within reason). Available for house visits 1-2 times per day, for feeding, litter trays and lots of attention (can also water the plants). I could also do the occasional overnight stay.

I'm a proud cat mum of a tabby. Experienced pet owner previously lived with 2 domestic shorthairs and a jack russel. In need to get more active within my community and would love to spend time with some furry friends with walks and play time! I was mum to Zoe, a beauitiful hunterway bearded collie for 14 years. She was my 3rd baby.  I love dogs/animals. I treat them as if they are my own.   I ofen speak to dogs when out before I meet their owners. Dogs just love me, because I love them.  I've done many dog sits both in nZ and overseas.I have been asked back in many dog sits, because I do such a great job and the dog is well cared for in my charge.   I prefer to dog sit in the dog's house, because I think they're more at home there.  I treat the house as if its my own, keeping it tidy.  Im very professional, curteous and respectful.  I get on easily with most people and dogs. I have boundaries and just like kids need boundaries, so do dogs. As someone once said to me 'You're firm but fair' which I believe I am.I grew up with dachsunds and we still have them in my family.  I have also worked at HUHA for a while and realised then that just like humans dogs just want love, kindness, attention, food and walks.  It changed my perspective on dogs greatly. There are no bad dogs, just poor owners.Dogs are a big responsibility. They are like another family member and we need to realise that.During the day, I have dog walking commitments as well as other work, I also work from home, so I am not able to be home with your fur babies all the time. That said, I am open to a discussion.Helen was excellent at communicating right through the process of house-sitting. Always proactive and reliable. We really appreciated the photos, videos and regular communication from her during our time away. Our dog got plenty of exercise and love, and was happy and and well on our return. We very much appreciated her care for our pup.


I retried December 2025 following 30 years working in Risk Managment, with a life time experience meeting the needs of pets both dogs, cats and those pets that from can be hard to find care for. Home visits feeding, cleaning, walking and providing company if required. Available Monday through to Sunday,flexible hours to allow for feeding moring, evening and time required to spend with pets. I also worked in conservation for a few years.&nbsp;* I can board birds here (if they have their own cage)* I can board rabbits &amp; guinea pigs here. (Guinea pigs must have their own cage).* All other animals I'd do drop ins morning and evening (I am out dog walking 830-430 so feeding/check ins will be either side of that.)I cannot do: dog boarding at home, in person house/pet sitting.
