Top cities for cat sitting in New Zealand

Many cat owners will understand that cats can be fussy and prefer their own home environment rather than an unfamiliar place like a cattery or cat hotel. Although some cats can adapt to cat boarding if they have to, most cats become stressed when transported somewhere new.

This is where a friendly Taupaki Pawshake cat feeder or carer can help. Our Taupaki cat sitting expert can come and visit your cat while you are away on holiday or at work. A cat sitter can even stay overnight if required, which is far less stressful than sending your feline friend to a cattery for cat boarding. Whether you just need a sitter for a couple of hours or someone to visit each day for a week, our Taupaki cat sitters can tailor their service to suit you and please even the fussiest kitty.

Although most cats are independent, having a cat carer visit has a lot of benefits. Your chosen Pawshake cat sitter can feed, freshen up the water bowl, tidy the litter tray, and spend quality time with your cat. And unlike a cattery or cat hotel, your cat can chill out in their own familiar space.

Finally, every booking with Pawshake is with a verified carer and includes the Pawshake Guarantee and veterinary coverage, so you have nothing to worry about when it comes to your feline companion!

Hi there! My name is Ashlin, and I’ve been proud to call beautiful Aotearoa home for the past eight years, originally from South Africa. My family and I are lifelong animal lovers who adore caring for dogs, cats, birds, and even reptiles (we share our home with a friendly bearded dragon named Smaug!) :)
Over the years, I’ve cared for many pets, including dogs and reptiles, and understand that each one has their own unique personality and needs. I treat every pet like part of our own family, with patience, love, and genuine care. Whether your furry (or scaly!) friend needs a cuddle, a walk, or simply some company, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away.
Reliable, calm, and experienced with all temperaments - your pet will always be in great hands!
Thanks for your time, We look forward to engaging with you :)

Hi, I’m Zoe! I absolutely love animals and have always enjoyed being around them. I have a pet named Taco, who brings so much joy into my life, so I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy to care for your furry family members.

While I don’t have professional pet-sitting experience, I’m responsible, caring, and eager to provide the best care for your pet. Whether your pet loves to play, needs extra cuddles, or prefers a quiet environment, I’ll make sure they feel safe and happy. I can provide feeding, walks, playtime, and lots of affection while you’re away.

For home visits, I typically stay for at least 30 minutes to ensure your pet gets enough attention and care. I can also water plants and bring in the mail if needed. Recently I have been helping my neighbour feed and take care of her cat twice a day while she is away.

If your dog needs a walk, I offer 30- to 45-minute walks in safe, pet-friendly areas like parks or quiet neighbourhoods.

For the safety of all pets in my care, I only accept vaccinated animals into my home. If you’re looking for a loving and responsible pet sitter, I’d be happy to help. Let’s chat about how I can care for your pet like my own!
