Top cities for cat sitting in New Zealand

Many cat owners will understand that cats can be fussy and prefer their own home environment rather than an unfamiliar place like a cattery or cat hotel. Although some cats can adapt to cat boarding if they have to, most cats become stressed when transported somewhere new.

This is where a friendly Queenstown Pawshake cat feeder or carer can help. Our Queenstown cat sitting expert can come and visit your cat while you are away on holiday or at work. A cat sitter can even stay overnight if required, which is far less stressful than sending your feline friend to a cattery for cat boarding. Whether you just need a sitter for a couple of hours or someone to visit each day for a week, our Queenstown cat sitters can tailor their service to suit you and please even the fussiest kitty.

Although most cats are independent, having a cat carer visit has a lot of benefits. Your chosen Pawshake cat sitter can feed, freshen up the water bowl, tidy the litter tray, and spend quality time with your cat. And unlike a cattery or cat hotel, your cat can chill out in their own familiar space.

Finally, every booking with Pawshake is with a verified carer and includes the Pawshake Guarantee and veterinary coverage, so you have nothing to worry about when it comes to your feline companion!

Hi! I'm Bri, a 23-year-old originally from Hawaiʻi and currently based near Queenstown. I've been an animal lover my entire life and have grown up with both dogs and cats. I know how important it is to find someone you trust with your pets, and I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own.
I have several years of experience caring for pets for friends, family, and clients, and I'm comfortable caring for animals with different personalities, ages, and energy levels.
I offer dog walking, home visits, and house sitting. Dog walks typically last 30–60 minutes and are tailored to your dog's needs and activity level. Home visits include feeding, fresh water, playtime, litter box cleaning, medication administration if needed, and plenty of affection and companionship. During house sitting, I aim to maintain your pet's usual routine to help them feel relaxed and comfortable while you're away.
Your pet's safety and happiness are always my top priorities. I take the time to get to know each animal and work patiently with shy, energetic, or senior pets. In the unlikely event of an emergency, I will contact you immediately and follow any instructions you provide while ensuring your pet receives prompt care.
I believe communication is important, so I'm happy to send regular updates and photos to give you peace of mind while you're away. I'm comfortable caring for dogs, cats, and other small animals, and I have a flexible schedule for both regular and occasional bookings.
I'd love the opportunity to meet you and your furry family members and provide them with loving, reliable care while you're away!

Hi there! My name is Karen, and I'm an animal lover based in Auckland. I've had pets my whole life and truly enjoy spending time with animals of all kinds — dogs, cats, or any furry friend that needs care and attention.
I'm reliable, caring, and patient, and I always make sure pets feel comfortable and happy while their owners are away. I offer home visits and dog walking services, and I'm happy to follow any specific instructions you have for feeding, playtime, or medication.
I believe that every animal deserves kindness and respect, and I'll treat your pets as if they were my own. I'll also keep you updated with messages and photos during each visit or walk so you can relax knowing your furry family members are in good hands.
I'm happy to provide extra cuddles, playtime, or any training support if needed. I can't wait to meet your lovely companions!

Animal lover with 2 years worth of pet sitting in Australia ranging from big dogs, cats, cattle and birds.
While travelling the last few years I have pet sat multiple times using another app. During this time I looked after dogs, cats and cattle ranging from weekend overnight stays to month long pet sits.
I had a brilliant time volunteering at wildlife sanctuary for 3 weeks caring for multiple animals from kangaroo to possums.
From all of these experiences I am confident in looking after your pet no matter the size or needs required!
I plan to stay in New Zealand for at least one year so I would be more than happy to re-sit if desired and keep your pet happy only having to get used to one more person.
I offer pet sitting visits/walks and over night stays where your animal can stay in the comfort of their own home. Happy to discuss required times for visits and over night sits to best suit you.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have or request a meet and greet before confirming ️

Kia ora tatou,
I have grown up with dogs, all sizes and breeds, and I come from families of dog lovers. This upbringing has seen me volunteering at dog shelters all over the world- from Greece to Ecuador, with the purpose of giving back while learning about different cultures, all while getting my dog fix! I have continued with this since returning to NZ by volunteering at local SPCAs.
I'm studying online with some placements throughout the year. I love getting out for runs and hikes and would often do so with our family dog, so (if they're up for it) I would include taking your dog out with me.
My services for looking after your dogs would include:

Exercise of at least an hour (depending on the dog's fitness it could be a run or walk, and even include a swim if they are water babies!)
Quality time playing with them throughout the day
Ensuring they always have adequate water available
Cleaning up after them in a minimal waste way (eg using newspaper instead of plastic bags to pick up poo)
I am also available to house sit, which would include any watering or harvesting in the garden if you needed!

I look forward to hearing from you,
Ngā mihi
Yvette
