Growing up surrounded by animals has made it extra hard not to have pets of my own right now (due to work, lifestyle, and accommodation commitments). Both my parents are vets, so animals of all shapes and sizes were always part of my daily life. Over the years, I’ve often pet-sat and house-sat for family and friends, always caring for their animals as if they were my own.

I’ve recently moved to Lyall Bay and am excited to get involved in the community — and hopefully spend some time with a few furry friends! This is where you come in — I’d love to walk your dog, look after your pets, and fulfil my need for some animal company!

I spent part of my childhood on a dairy goat farm, so getting muddy, working through all kinds of weather, and handling the realities of animal husbandry are second nature to me. I also spent many of my summers working as a groom on a thoroughbred horse stud, where I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and how important animals are to their people. (The horses always came first!) When travelling I am always looking to pet the strays and am constantly looking for dogs to give attention to.

I’m comfortable administering medication and following any special or unusual routines to make sure your pets get the very best care. I have a car, so I’m happy to take animals for walks away from the area — and, in the rare case of an emergency, can get them to a vet if needed.

Animals I’ve cared for in the past include:

• Dogs (including guide dogs, greyhounds for adoption, farm dogs, and family pets)
• Cats
• Guinea pigs
• Birds
• Horses (of all shapes and sizes)

• Goats
• Sheep
