Loving care for your pet with beach walks
Auckland
About Roger
I live in HOWICK Auckland with my 5 year old rescue Sharpei/ Labrador cross female Peachy And my 25 year old Grandson.
My now deceased wife and I had two Shi Tzus - see my photos. Sadly they and my wife all died within a year of each other
Prior to that we had a German Shepherd.
We came to New Zealand from the UK in 2001 and brought with us a cat we had rescued in the UK.
I know how hard it is to find care for your pet and not spoil your own time with worry when you go away
I have time on my hands to be able to offer to give loving care in a quiet home so you have reassurance.
To ensure you of the ongoing welfare of your dog I am happy to provide daily photos both of your dog indoors and when out for exercise.
A typical day here is up between 6.00 and 7.00 am
When tide allows a walk for an hour on the beach between 7.30 and 9.30am. This is followed by a morning of rest and play in the garden.
In the afternoon there is another hour out on leash, off leash at the dog park or beach.
Meals are given as per your dog's normal routine.
When my dog Peachy came to me she was frightened of so many things. Particularly if people approached he with something in their hand.
Clearly she had been hit in her previous life. She was also afraid of loud noises.
With lots of gentle care, love and reassurance when in those situations she no longer has those fears and is virtually bulletproof.
I have a medium sized fully secure fenced garden On three sides. The house is single level. The neighbourhood and garden environments are quiet.🤫
Your dog will be supervised most of the day and night.
Will only be left for short times if I go food shopping, doctor etc.
Peachy is calm and gentle with other dogs both big and small but likes a chase and play if other dog is willing.
She generally sleeps on her raised bed in the lounge but can come to the bedroom to be close by if she feels like it.
Your dog will have the same options
My grandson loves dogs but works in the daytime.
I have experience of dogs both big and small and feel confident with large dogs so long as they do not have any aggressive nature including German Shepherds etc.
Once took in a small Shi Tzu dog that I had rescued in connection with my work at the time. The dog was from a bad background. Totally matted coat and frightened of virtually everything. Again with reassurance and loving care she gradually became relatively confident and would come for fuss and attention.
I am used to introducing Peachy carefully to new dogs on the beach. Dogs are encouraged to come to Peachy. If they are happy. I like to place a reassuring hand on their shoulder rather than head
I am happy to accept only one boarding dog at a time. Must be neutered/speyed and fully vaccinated.
I will always ask to see proof of up to date vaccinations.
Beach walks on/ off leash available locally.
I generally give dogs at least one beach walk every day, tide and weather permitting. Beach is off leash most of the year and totally secure from road access.
Your dog needs to be happy travelling in the car for 5 minutes for this to happen.
Vet clinic very close by if required an they have known me for many years. Should an emergency occur your dog will be calmly taken there.
A 24 hour emergency vet is about 20 minutes drive away.
I am happy to cater for your dog's favourite meal plan or special diet. Will administer medications as required..
