Hi, I'm Jenny from The Block (my kids made me write that)

I'm 63 years old, a homebody, a proud grandmother and, being a widow, I live on my own. Looking after people's homes and pets gets me out and about whilst also earning extra cash for my own travels. 

My hobbies are running marathons, triathlons and ultra marathons. Being active is what keeps me young and loving life.

I absolutely adore animals. Having previously owned and run a popular doggy daycare near Auckland airport (now shut due to COVID), I have experience with various breeds of dogs and some cats. I've also had many pets throughout my life, my last one was a beautiful yellow Labrador named Harry (in my profile picture) who has now crossed the rainbow bridge. 

I'm happy to consider care for most types of animals.

Care at my home:

In most instances, due to rent restrictions, I can only offer pet sitting at your own home. However, if your dog is quiet and little, I might be able to consider care at my home. Discounted fees would apply vs fees for staying at the pets home.  

Leaving pets alone at home for a few hours during the day - ocassionally for longer periods as noted below:

I mostly work from home.

I work full time in the vehicle leasing industry, and have flexibility with work from home options. 

However, please note - I am required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week. If your home is within approx 10 km radius of Ellerslie AKL, I can pop in 1 - 2 times per day to check on pets but otherwise would need to leave them at home alone for up to 9 hours per day, 2 days per work week. 

Whilst caring for your pets, I will always be at home overnight but during the day, in addition to having to go to the office 2 days per week, I may also have places to go to where I'm unable to take them with me eg. grocery shopping, visits to family etc. However, I am a home body, and spend most days at home. If I am out, I usually try to be back within a maximum of 4 - 5 hours. Happy to discuss further.

Taking pets out:

I am open to taking pets out with me to visits with my family and friends, beach walks etc but will never do this without prior approval from pets owners. 

Open to care of pets through North and South islands: 

I live in East Auckland but can travel distances to look after your pets. In exceptional cases, with permission from my employers, I can travel out of Auckland and work from home 5 days of the week to look after pets anywhere through the North and South islands. Please feel free to send me a message to discuss. 

Travel out of Auckland may incur some extra cost but it will depend on the length of the stay. For longer stays, travel costs might not be applied.

IMPORTANT - The quoted prices include one dog only, or up to two cats. 

All prices are negotiable.

For additional, or other types of pets, there might be an increase or decrease in the price. However, this will be based on individual requirements. 

Note - a pre-stay visit is often requested where I can meet you and your pets prior to accepting a booking. A small call out fee to meet and greet is applied. Within the Auckland region, this is generally around $50. If outside of Auckland, we can discuss.
