Hi, I'm Gemma! Your pet's new favourite human?

I'm an animal lover based in Karori, Wellington, and I'd love to help look after your furry family members when you need an extra pair of hands. 😊

I've grown up with multiple cats and a dog, so animals have always been a part of my life. I love getting to know their individual personalities, whether that's taking dogs out for walks, exploring and playing, or spending time with pets at home. I enjoy giving dogs the chance to get out, burn off some energy and have fun, while making sure each pet gets the kind of attention that suits them.

I've also walked dogs for others, giving me some hands-on experience with different personalities and temperaments. With cats, I've found that even those who are usually shy, anxious or wary of new people often warm up to me. I enjoy building that trust, letting them approach me in their own time and helping them feel comfortable in my company.

Here's how I can help:

- Dog walking: I'm happy to tailor walks to your dog's needs, whether that's a 30-minute stroll, an hour exploring, or something in between. We can explore neighbourhoods and local parks, or play fetch where appropriate for dogs who are reliably trained for off-leash play.
- Playtime: Keeping your pet entertained and giving them opportunities to play.
- Cat visits: Feeding, refreshing water, company and affection on their terms.
- Pet sitting and home visits: Keeping your pet company and following their usual routine while you're away.

I study and can work remotely, which gives me plenty of flexibility to spend time with pets and fit around their usual routines. I'm happy to discuss your pet's individual needs, including how long they can comfortably be left alone during a sitting. I'd agree on a care plan with you before confirming a booking.

I'm generally very flexible with my availability. During the school term, I'm unavailable on Saturday mornings due to another job, but I'm fully available during school holidays. I'm happy to discuss different days and times to find what works for you and your pet.

I'm patient, attentive and reliable, and I take the responsibility of looking after someone else's pet seriously. I'll listen to your instructions, learn their routine and make sure we're a good fit before getting started. If an emergency arises, I'll contact you as soon as possible and seek veterinary assistance if needed.

I'm based in Karori and can primarily cover Karori and nearby Wellington suburbs, with wider areas possible by arrangement.
