About Lucia
Hi! My name is Lucia and I have always loved and had a passion for all animals, volunteering at a marine centre and the SPCA (in the veterinary care unit) in the last few years. I've had dogs, chickens, guinea pigs, mice, fish, even snails and slugs while growing up and have always made looking after them my top priority. One of my dogs is temperamental and reactive so I have lots of experience in reactive dog training techniques to make sure she's comfortable all the time. I aspire to have a full time job working with animals in the future such as vet nursing or a job in conservation.
Last year I volunteered at a cat rescue and rehabilitation organisation which involved me looking after 14 cats for a week on my own. I also volunteered at a horse farm for a month where I cared for many dogs, many cats and kittens (some of which were sick), chickens, and lots of horses.
At the SPCA I clean many cages and feed dogs, cats and other small animals. I help veterinarians administer oral medicine and help treat wounds and injuries, and also help move animals who weren't mobile. I have also handled and cared for animals coming from unfortunate situations such as temperamental strays and pets arriving from highly overcrowded houses.
I have experience professionally cat and dog sitting and I've had years of experience walking and looking after my own dogs. This specific profile is new because I've been pet sitting overseas for the last few months and the profiles don't transfer back to NZ! I'm unable to keep any pets in my current house but I'm happy to commute all around Wellington to sit anywhere from an hour to several days. I'm happy to walk dogs, pop in and feed any animals etc. I would be more than happy to discuss any services not including boarding in my own house.
