Hi, I’m Briar!

I’m Briar, based in Te Atatū Peninsula. I’ve grown up around animals and have always had a huge soft spot for them.

I grew up with a Samoyed and Alaskan Malamutes, and later had my own German Shepherd × Husky, so I’m very comfortable with bigger, energetic dogs, as well as their individual quirks and personalities.

I’ve also always had cats and have regularly looked after Maltese and Jack Russell crosses, so I’m comfortable caring for different breeds, sizes and temperaments.

For me, pet sitting is about making sure your pets feel safe, comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I’m happy to follow their usual routines, give them plenty of attention and cuddles, and make sure they get the care and companionship they’re used to.

I know how important it is to feel confident leaving your pets with someone else, so I’ll keep you updated and treat your pets and your home with the same care I’d want for my own.

Daycare & Boarding

Available Saturdays and Sundays outside of seasonal periods

Food is not included, so please provide your pet’s usual food

$20 pickup/drop-off fee within a 20-minute drive of Te Atatū Peninsula

Happy to discuss pickup/drop-off options for further distances

Your pet’s own bed, toys and blankets are preferred for boarding to help them feel at home

Walks included and tailored to your pet’s usual routine and energy levels

My home is fully fenced and down a driveway, with a nice-sized garden and beautiful walking areas nearby

Comfortable caring for both indoor and outdoor pets

In-Home Care / Sitting

I’m happy to care for your furry friend in the comfort of their own home, keeping their usual routine and environment as familiar as possible while you’re away.

Weekdays: I work 7am–4pm, so I’m available for in-home sitting outside of these hours and can accommodate pets who are comfortable being home alone during the working day.

Weekends: I offer 24-hour in-home care and can stay with your pet for the majority, or entirety, of the day and overnight. This is ideal for pets who need lots of company or aren’t comfortable being left alone for long periods.

I’ll take the time to understand your pet’s routine, preferences and personality so they can feel safe, settled and well cared for while you’re away.

Dog Walks & Off-Leash Adventures

Minimum 30-minute walk, depending on your pet’s needs and energy levels

Price covers walks of up to 60 minutes

Longer walks incur an additional $5 per 15 minutes

Morning and evening walks available, with consideration given to heat and weather conditions

If your dog has strong recall and we’ve built up a good bond, I’d also be happy to take them for some off-leash play at a suitable park, beach or forest, depending on what you’re comfortable with.

In-Home Visits

Morning and/or evening visits available for:

Feeding and fresh water

Toilet breaks

Affection and companionship

Playtime

General care and checking in

30–60 minute visits depending on your pet’s needs

A little note about my availability

I work a 7am–4pm job Monday to Friday, so daycare or boarding during the week may not be suitable for pets who aren’t comfortable being home alone for periods of time.

Weekends are much more flexible, and I can be home with your pets for most or all of the day. Whether that means walks, playtime, cuddles or simply keeping them company.
