About Scott
Currently not working so able to look after animals during the week!
I’m a 28-year-old from the UK, now settled here in Christchurch. I’ve grown up with cats and dogs my entire life, so a house doesn't feel quite right without the sound of paws on the floor. My most recent companion back home was a Portuguese Water Dog named Buca, who lived a full life until he was 15. Looking after him into his senior years taught me a lot about the patience and attentive care that older dogs specifically need, including managing mobility issues and administering daily oral medications.
Back home, my family has two Dachshunds, Olive and Busby, who are 11 and 9 years old. Being around "sausage dogs" means I’m very used to big personalities and the importance of keeping an eye on their safety, especially their backs! My motivation for pet sitting is simple: I genuinely love being around animals and want to provide a reliable, home-away-from-home environment for other owners in the community.
Expert Care & Experience
Beyond basic care, I have a practical understanding of dog behavior and handling. Through years of owning spirited breeds, I’ve learned how to manage behavioral traits like separation anxiety or leash reactivity with a calm and consistent approach. I am comfortable maintaining any training cues you have in place to ensure your dog stays on track while you're away.
Safety is my top priority. In the unlikely event of an emergency, I am prepared to act quickly and will keep owner emergency contact details easily accessible. When managing multiple pets, I use slow, supervised introductions and ensure every dog has its own dedicated space for feeding to prevent any resource-related stress.
Daily Routine & My Home
I am an active person, so your dog will be properly walked and well-looked after. I make it a priority to ensure they get enough outdoor time and exercise to stay settled and happy. I am typically home throughout the day, and dogs are rarely left alone for more than 3 hours.
My home in Christchurch is spacious with plenty of room for your dog to roam about. I don't believe in keeping pets confined; I want them to feel comfortable exploring and finding their favorite spot to nap. To ensure the safety of all my guests, I only take in pets that are fully vaccinated. I look forward to meeting your best friend and giving them the same care I’d give my own!
