**UPDATES**
For Dog Boarding larger dogs, I recommend you check other Pawshakers first. Our place is not very large. Services like House Sitting are still available for them.
I have found I am more comfortable with shorter House Sitting jobs, so I may refuse home stays of more than 5 days.
Thanks for all the enquiries so far.

Main Profile
I am a 31 year old who has volunteered at the SPCA and seen a lot of pets. My experience is mostly with dogs and cats. I visit my sisters cats and care for them often, my house is also their holiday home. I do not have any pets right now but really enjoy meeting animals.
Whether your pet is a large dog who needs exercise, a small dog who walks slowly, or a cat who just wants to be lazy, I am able to adapt to your pets needs. It does not bother me if your pet is not friendly with new people at first. Every pet is completely different. Your pet won't have any other animal companion at my house though, only me and my mother, so be aware of that if you choose to have your pet stay over. You can check the photos to see the house space.
I have lately put on a bit of weight(just a bit). After my dog Archie passed away, I do not go on as many walks as I used to! He was 17 and lived a good life. I am usually a quiet person but if I see a dog out on a walk I can't help but say hello. I am not experienced on Pawshake so some aspects of the process here may be new to me, but I doubt your pet will mind that! I am sure I can keep him/her happy.
To avoid confusion: The pets listed on my profile (Archie, Polly and Pluto) are not currently at home with me.
Service Details below
I live in a comfortable apartment with 3 bedrooms and the dog(s) can sleep anywhere they like. I am comfortable with them being on my bed even. This is my mother's house so she will also watch your dog alongside me. You may want to bring his/her favorite dog bed or blanket. Your pet will be taken for 1-2 daily walks and monitored around the clock. There are multiple nearby parks, Abberley Park is popular with smaller dogs. There is enough room here for two little dogs(e.g. Pug, Chihuahua) or one small to medium sized dog. Because of the house space and small outdoor area, I recommend you check other Pawshakers first if you have a larger dog(e.g. Labrador). Your dog won't ever stay with another random person's dog as I will only take on one "family" at a time. You will get regular photo updates.
The average walk will be just over 40 minutes, with no rush to get back. Please provide your own leash. Once I know your pet, I may occasionally want to take them in the car somewhere else, like one of the Christchurch parks. In this case they could be gone longer and I would allow them off leash there, with your permission. Unless cancelled I will show up regardless of weather as I find most dogs are usually happy to go unless the rain is heavy. If you are not home, you will need to give me access to the area of the house where your dog is, e.g. via spare key. At the end, I will send you at least one photo showing where your dog went.
Each visit is about 30 minutes. I can do small house chores for you during this time. I will interact with your pet during the visit and see if they are happy. I can give them food and check water. You should specify the full list of things that need doing while you are away. You will get an update from me and a photo from each visit.
Full dog walks are not included with this service, unless you ask for them. Regardless, I may still take them outside for 10-20 minutes to do a poo and have a change of scenery, even if you do not book a walk. If you would like to give your dog a good walk while away, I recommend booking a dog walk with me on Pawshake and putting it around the same time as the home visit. Then I will walk your dog(s) during the visit.
I have found I am more comfortable with shorter stays. So I may refuse a week long stay, or anything longer than a few days. I can do regular daily chores such as take the mail in and water a few plants. You should specify the things that need doing while you are away. I would prefer to have WiFi access. I may refuse a home without it. If I have to go out for some reason I will usually contact you first. I may need to use your kitchen to keep/make food for myself and also I will need an appropriate place to sleep. You will get regular photo updates. Dogs will get a full walk included, similar to what is described in the dog walking section.
Full refund if canceled before 12:00 p.m. one day before the booking, 50% refund afterward.
No refund is payable if the booking is canceled on or after the start date.
Note: All times are based on the sitter’s time zone
My dog Bo always has a great time with Conan. Conan takes him to safe places where he h can socialise with other dogs and release energy.
Highly recommended.
Our 3-year-old welsh springer spaniel, Eden, had a wonderful time with Conan. We were nervous about leaving her for a longer 3 week stay, but it looks like she had a wonderful time and was very well cared for, including ample walks for exercise and taking into account things like weather (e.g. going on walks earlier in the morning on really hot days to avoid overheating). We really appreciated Conan's clear communication, honesty, and attention to detail in letting us know about any potential concerns or changes in behaviour. Would 100% recommend!
