Loving, reliable pet care in Avondale 🐾

A little about me

I’m a lifelong animal lover based in Avondale, Auckland, with many years of experience caring for cats and dogs of different ages, breeds and personalities.

I’ve had my senior cat, Pangur, since she was a kitten, and currently also have a young Japanese Spitz, Síoda, who keeps me very active!

Over the years, I’ve shared my home with several cats and dogs, including a Chihuahua/Fox Terrier cross and a French Bulldog. I also grew up with dogs, including a Border Collie and a Pointer/Springer Spaniel cross.

I’ve regularly looked after friends’ pets and house sat while they’ve been away. My experience includes caring for senior, sick and injured animals, and I’m comfortable administering medication where appropriate, provided the animal is reasonably cooperative and it’s safe to do so.

I’ve also used Pawshake myself as a pet owner, so I understand how important it is to find someone reliable and trustworthy.

❤️ My approach to pet care

I take the responsibility of caring for animals seriously. I believe it’s our job as owners and carers to anticipate risks, make sensible decisions and do everything reasonably possible to keep the animals in our care safe.

Every animal has their own personality, routines and boundaries, and I always aim to make them feel comfortable, secure and well cared for.

I know how reassuring it is to receive updates when you’re away, so I’m very happy to send photos and messages to let you know how your pets are getting on.

My aim is to provide the same thoughtful, attentive care I’d want for my own animals.

I’m based in Avondale and generally offer cat home visits and dog walking within approximately 5 km. Areas include Avondale, Waterview, Point Chevalier, New Lynn, Blockhouse Bay and Mount Albert.

I’m happy to consider nearby areas too, so please get in touch if you’re unsure whether you’re within my service area.

🐱 Cat visits and home care

I’m particularly happy to care for cats in their own homes, where they can remain comfortable in familiar surroundings and stick to their usual routines.

I offer 30-minute home visits, once or twice daily, depending on your cat’s needs and my availability.

Visits can include:

* Feeding and fresh water

* Litter tray cleaning

* Playtime, cuddles and companionship (on their terms!)

* Medication where appropriate

* General wellbeing checks

* Watering indoor and outdoor plants

* Bringing in mail

I’ll take the time to get to know your cat and follow their usual routines, whether they’re sociable and affectionate or prefer a quieter approach.

Christmas and New Year: I’m in Auckland during this period and I’m available.

🐕 Dog walking – daily adventures

I walk my own dog every morning and love taking him on adventures to Pt Chev Beach, Oakley Creek, Craigavon Park, Heron Park and other local walking spots.

I’m happy to bring another friendly, sociable dog along, provided they’re comfortable with other dogs and are a good match for Síoda.

Walks are approximately 40-60 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes allowed for transport, depending on our destination. This gives your dog plenty of time to exercise, explore and enjoy lots of sniffing!

Dogs travel safely in the back seat of my car on a protective dog seat cover, secured with a dog seatbelt attachment clipped to their harness.

Our morning outings generally start around 8:30 to 9am, and I’ll tailor each walk to your dog’s age, energy levels and individual needs.

I’ll always follow your preferences regarding leads, exercise and socialising, with safety as my priority.

🏡 Small-dog overnight stays

I offer occasional overnight stays in my home for one small, house-trained dog at a time.

I have a friendly young Japanese Spitz, Síoda, and a senior cat, Pangur, who has her own separate upstairs space to escape to.

Visiting dogs need to be comfortable around other dogs and suitable for a household with a cat.

My home is a relaxed environment, and visiting dogs will be treated as part of the household, with companionship, attention and daily walks.

I work from home, so I’m generally around during the day, although I don’t offer a separate doggy daycare service.

I prefer one-night stays, but will consider two nights by arrangement.

A meet-and-greet beforehand is essential to make sure everyone is comfortable and it’s a good fit.

Every animal is different, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know their personalities, routines and little quirks.

Whether I’m visiting your cat, taking your dog on an adventure or welcoming a small dog into my home, I’ll do my best to make sure they’re happy, comfortable and well cared for while you’re away.
