I’m Sean, and I work from home Monday to Thursday with my two miniature dachshunds keeping me company. I’ve been around dogs of all sizes throughout my life and genuinely love them all, but because I want my two — and any visiting dog — to feel safe and comfortable, I only take small dogs into my home. It keeps things calm, predictable, and suited to little dogs who don’t enjoy the noise or energy of bigger groups.

I only host one dog at a time, and I accept dogs who are small, neutered, friendly with other little dogs, and fully house‑trained. Minnie and Ede enjoy having a small friend around, but like many dachshunds, they prefer gentle, easy‑going dogs who understand small‑breed social cues.

Because I work from home, your dog will never be left alone. They’ll have free access to the garden whenever the weather is good, and if it’s raining or too cold, I’ll still give them regular chances to pop outside for a sniff and a wander — just like my own two do. There are a few steps outside, so your dog will need to be able to manage those (my minis handle them without thinking).

Inside, there are plenty of cosy spots to snooze, sunny patches by the windows, and lots of blankets for dogs who love a curl‑up. During my rest breaks, I’m happy to offer a bit of playtime, enrichment, or cuddles, depending on what your dog enjoys. Most days, I take a quick walk down to the beach around lunchtime, which suits small breeds perfectly and gives everyone a nice reset.

For peace of mind, I’ll ask for your dog’s preferred vet details and an ICE contact number, so we’re all clear on what to do if something unexpected happens. I’m calm and practical in those situations, and you’ll hear from me straight away if anything seems off. I’m also happy to give medication, as long as I’ve been given clear instructions and it’s within my capability.
