For pet parents, one of the hardest things about going to work each day is wondering what your dog will get up to while you are gone. At Pawshake, we understand that dogs need activity and interaction during the day, so why not book your dog with one of our trusted sitters in Takanini for a home day care service? You can drop your dog off at the sitter’s home on the way to work or organise with your local Takanini Pawshake sitter to pick up and drop off your dog for you.

Pet day care is a great way to keep your dog mentally and physically active during the day so that you can come home to a happy, relaxed dog. Pawshake’s home day care service is great for young dogs who need constant supervision: puppy daycare allows your pup to maintain a consistent routine, which is important during the toilet training process. It’s also a great option for dogs who need extra care and attention, or those who are extra active.

Our sitters who offer home day care and puppy daycare services are more adaptable than your average big day care centre. Numbers are kept small and some Pawshake sitters will only take in one dog at a time. This means they can work around your timing and any special requirements your dog may have. So, let your four-legged best friend enjoy their day with a fun and loving Takanini sitter who will shower them with love and dedicated attention. On top of that, you will also get photos and updates during the day so that you can follow your dog’s day care adventures!

Every day care booking also comes included with The Pawshake Guarantee, which includes veterinary coverage, customer service support 7 days a week and more.

Hello! We're Sophia and José —responsible, friendly, and deeply respectful of other people’s spaces and furry family members. I’m a New Zealander, and José is Chilean, and we both have a love for animals, nature, and quiet, tidy living. We house sit because we enjoy helping people feel at ease while they’re away, knowing their home and pets are in safe, capable hands.
Sophia has over 10 years of experience caring for animals and maintaining properties of all kinds. Her background includes working with dogs (from training and walking to kennel management), cats, farm animals, and even bees! She has also worked in local council animal care, and understands the importance of routine, calmness, and safety in keeping pets happy while their owners are away. José is an avid dog lover, has grown up with dogs and spent years dogsitting in his neighborhood Lo Barnechea, in Santiago, Chile. We both have traveled through Chile pet/housesitting, and now we are doing the same in beautiful NZ!
If you choose us as your sitter, you can expect clear communication, daily updates if desired, and the peace of mind that your home will be clean, secure, and well-loved in your absence. We treat every house sit as a privilege, and care for each pet as if they were our own. Whether your pets need play, medication, walks, or just some quiet companionship, we'll be there to ensure they’re happy and well cared for.
We would love the opportunity to chat more and see if we'd a good fit for your home and your pets.

I am an experienced pet sitter with over 25 years of hands-on care for many different types of animals and temperaments both my own, friends and other peoples pets.
I grew up with many rescue cats a rescue dog and even a rescue cockatoo. Mostly my experience is with both cats and dogs, I bring compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of animal behaviour to every visit. Most recently, I cared for my severely injured cat recovering from a dog attack. This required round-the-clock attention, including administering antibiotics and pain medication, cleaning and dressing wounds, monitoring eating and hydration, and creating a calm stress-free environment for healing and emotional comfort.
I worked closely with our veterinarian to monitor progress and adjust care routines as needed. My experience also includes senior pets, those with special medical needs, and multi-pet households. I prioritise safety, trust, and communication, always treating your fur babies as if they were my own. Whether it’s a playful pup or a shy, anxious cat, I tailor my approach to each pet’s personality and needs. I’m reliable, trustworthy and detail-oriented, and committed to giving your furry companions the best possible care while you’re away.

Hi there
My name is Mal, and I'd love to watch over your fur baby while youre away. I've had animals all my life, my dog Koda who is sadly not with us anymore, my 2 cats, I fostered kittens for 9 lives orphanage for a few years as well. I remember it being a challenge to find somewhere for my dog so thought while I have the time and ability to that I could fill that gap for someone else. I've missed my dog but am not ready to replace him yet so this is the next best thing
I live here with my husband, 2 cats and 1 year old who loves animals and is super good with them (see my gallery), im also comfortable with higher needs dogs as my dog lived with chronic allergies so medicated baths and tablets were a daily occurrence.
Feel free to flick through any questions.
Would be lovely to meet you and your dog

If you are looking for a dedicated and compassionate animal caregiver, look no further!
Proudly steering Raining Rabbits Rescue and contributing my expertise to the Bunny Bach Rabbit Boarding Facility. With a lifelong commitment to the well-being of animals, my journey began with giant dogs and extended to miniature companions. However, my passion truly blossomed with a focus on rabbit care.
At Raining Rabbits Rescue, we go beyond mere caregiving; we provide a haven for rabbits in need, ensuring their safety, health, and happiness. Our commitment extends to education and advocacy, addressing the prevailing lack of knowledge in rabbit welfare. As a rabbit-savvy individual, I bring a unique understanding of their intricate needs, setting me apart from conventional caregivers.
The Bunny Bach Rabbit Boarding Facility, where I proudly contribute, exemplifies the pinnacle of rabbit hospitality. Our facility offers a secure and comfortable environment for your beloved bunnies when you can't be there. With tailored care plans, we ensure that each rabbit receives personalised attention, nutritional support, and a stimulating atmosphere to thrive in.
For those who prefer their rabbits to remain in the comfort of their familiar environment, I extend my services to provide at-home care. Eliminate the stress of sending your rabbits to a boarding facility, and let them revel in the comfort of their home. With a deep understanding of the unique needs of rabbits, I assure you that their well-being will be prioritised, whether at home or in our boarding facility.
Whether it's providing a loving home for rescued rabbits or ensuring a delightful stay at Bunny Bach, my extensive experience encompasses the diverse spectrum of animals, from majestic giants to endearing miniatures.
Entrust your pets to a caregiver who not only embraces the diversity of animal companionship but also possesses the knowledge and passion needed to elevate the standard of care, particularly in the often overlooked realm of rabbit welfare. Your pets deserve nothing less than the best, and I am here to provide precisely that

Hi, I'm Gigi. I recently moved from Christchurch to Auckland and I’m excited to continue caring for pets here. While living in Christchurch, I looked after three cats for my neighbours, and that experience inspired me to become a pet sitter. Spending time with them showed me how rewarding it is to help pets feel safe and comfortable when their owners are away.

I’m also a proud cat owner myself. In my home country, I have five British Shorthair cats who are very loved and well cared for. They enjoy a happy and comfortable life, and my family is currently taking care of them while I’m in New Zealand. Being a cat owner has taught me a lot about their personalities, routines, and the attention they need to stay healthy and happy.

I always follow owners’ instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medication if needed, and any special routines your pet may have. I understand that every pet has their own personality—some love to play and interact, while others prefer quiet company and a calm environment. I’m happy to adapt to what makes your pet feel most relaxed and secure.

I know how important it is for pet owners to feel confident that their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re away. Pets can be sensitive to changes in their environment or routine, so I focus on providing gentle, patient care in their familiar space. Whether it’s playtime, cuddles, or simply keeping them company, I truly enjoy giving them the attention and comfort they need.

I’m a responsible, attentive, and caring person, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. I’ll make sure they are healthy, comfortable, and well looked after. I’m also happy to send regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away.
