We are a very active family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) and just love spending time in the bush and at the beach with our two terriers Frankie and Loki. After a wonderful experience taking care of Barney (a very energetic & friendly Miniature Pinscher X) for a few weeks, we saw how he thrived in our family environment. We offer a unique, family experience for your dog and you can work or enjoy your holiday knowing that your dog is being pampered, adored and well cared for.
Jo & Paul (parents) both work from home, supervised by our fur buddies Frankie & Loki. Our teenagers, when not at school and uni are enthusiastically on board for doggie cuddles, walks and ball throwing at the park. Between the 5 of us, your dog will be constantly with loving humans except for the very rare occasion that we are all out on errands.
Our backyard is fully fenced and large enough for games of chase and ball catching. We live surrounded by beautiful bush tracks, parks and of course the beach so your dog will get lots of variety in their daily walks and can even join Jo on a run if they like running.
Don't be put off if your dog is older or less active as when they aren't running about, demanding balls to be thrown, Frankie and Loki can be found curled up in their bed or on someone's lap, they really know how to chill out! We believe that dogs are part of the family so nowhere in our home is off limits and in the winter time, your dog will love snuggling in front of our fireplace.
You will receive regular updates on your dog (daily or as frequently as you need), including photos and video, letting you know how they are doing and what fun they have been up to.
As our work schedules are flexible, we can adapt our walk/run/play schedule to meet your dog's specific needs - if they need 2-3 walks per day, no problem! For dogs within the Birkenhead/Beachhaven/Birkdale/Glenfield/Northcote/Hilllcrest area (Kaipatiki) we are able to offer pickup & drop off. We are also able to provide drop-in or walking services for dogs in the Kaipatiki area.
We prefer smaller dogs as our terriers can be a little overwhelmed by large or "enthusiastic" dogs but if your dog is large & super calm, please feel free to contact us. Jo is also happy to take things slowly with timid or anxious dogs.
Our large tabby cat "Pretty Boy" is very resiliant to Frankie & Loki's attempts to play and has perfected the art of ignoring dogs (he will even curl up on a bed next to our dogs on a cold day). But do let us know if your dog is known to chase cats so that we can keep all pets safe and happy.
Just tell us about your dog, what you need and we will be happy to help.
Note: our doggie daycare rate includes pickup and drop off from your home. If you are dropping off to us, we can offer a discounted rate.
What people say about our dog sitting service:
"Jo and her family looked after Barney my Min Pin for 3 weeks in 2023 while I was overseas. Barney had the time of his life! He was so loved and felt right at home, and Jo's daughter Hannah showed him extra love and care. I don’t think Barney wanted to come home! He was taken out on heaps of adventures and became part of the family in no time, which was so beautiful to see. I can not recommend Jo and her family enough." Jade MacKinnon
