About Sarah
Hi, I’m Sarah
I’m 33, originally from South Manchester, and I’ve always felt completely at home around animals. Dogs in particular have been a huge part of my life, and although my current lifestyle doesn’t allow me to have one of my own, caring for dogs and getting to know their individual personalities has inspired me to build my own dog-walking and pet-sitting business.
My experience
Most recently, I spent seven months in New Zealand caring full-time for a German Shepherd, Husky and American Bulldog cross. When we first met, he was full of energy and had very little recall, jumped up, mouthed frequently and barked constantly for attention. Through a consistent routine, plenty of exercise, mental stimulation and positive reinforcement, I watched him make huge progress. By the end of our time together, he was calmer and more patient, rarely mouthed, no longer jumped up and had much better recall.
I also volunteered at an SPCA centre, where I worked with anxious and under-socialised dogs. I helped them build trust, practised basic training and took them for walks to provide enrichment and a welcome break from the shelter environment.
I grew up with two wonderful Labradors. One was the gentlest, calmest gentleman who wouldn’t say boo to a goose, while the other was bursting with energy and always kept us on our toes! I adored them both.
I’ve also cared for rescue cats, including a very nervous mum who had spent years having litters before finally being spayed. She needed patience, space and a calm environment while she recovered. I let her set the pace, respected her boundaries and gradually earned her trust. Watching her become more relaxed and confident around me was incredibly rewarding.
How I care for your pets
I understand that every animal is different. Some dogs want a big adventure, others are happiest with a gentle stroll, plenty of sniffing or some playtime. Whatever your pet enjoys, I’ll take the time to understand their needs and make sure they feel safe, happy and comfortable in my care.
I’ll choose walks that are safe and suitable for your dog’s age, fitness, confidence and personality, exploring the beautiful countryside on our doorstep.
Most importantly, I want your pet to feel that they have someone they can trust - and for you to feel completely reassured that they’re in safe, caring hands while you’re away.
What I can offer
- Dog walks from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours
- Home visits for 30 minutes or longer
- Overnight stays at your home, for one night or longer
- Oral and topical medication
- Care for multiple pets
- Pick-up and drop-off
A few things to note
- I’m unable to offer pet-sitting at my own home.
- I’m happy to administer medication as agreed, but I’m not able to cover veterinary costs. If I have any concerns about your pet’s health while they’re in my care, I’ll contact you immediately.
- I’m not a professional dog trainer, but I do have hands-on experience with basic training, behaviour and nervous dogs, and I’m passionate about providing the care, patience and attention every animal deserves.
I’d love to get to know you and your pets and hopefully become someone they’re excited to see!
