I am a loving, dedicated and passionate animal lover with high animal welfare standards. Our pets deserve the best!
I am based in North Waikato so can offer home visits anywhere from Ngaruawahia through to Huntly.
I have grown up with many animals, currently I have a 13yo Spaniel Roxy, a 2yo Cat Ragnar and 3 Orphington chickens - Jackie, Masie and Shirley. Zion my big boy who also features in my profile went missing 3 years ago. I still hold hope he will be found one day!
I have studied and passed various papers in animal welfare, animal clinical care (first year vet nursing) and canine behaviour training at Unitec in Auckland. I follow positive reinforcement principles and do not believe in any type of physical punishment.
I have worked at various animal shelters such as SPCA and animal rescue organisation's in the past and more recently full time petsitting around NZ. I'm now back in the Waikato and work part time as a specialist support worker in the disability field so have plenty of time during the day to provide home visits and dog walking services.
I am available to visit your home once or twice daily to feed, walk and spend time with your fur babies. I can send you daily updates and photos via phone so you can be assured your loved one is safe and happy.
I am comfortable pet sitting for small, medium and large breed dogs and any breed of cat, bird or reptile.
Daily dog walks are about 30 minutes and can be streets central to your home, at a local park or further afield to Raglan (weather permitting). On leash is the standard until I have bonded with your dog and confident with their recall. I can bring my dog Roxy along for company or can do this solo. Whichever you are comfortable with.
A typical 2 daily home visit routine would include me visiting in the morning for pats and cuddles and feeding breakfast and then returning in the evening to spend time with your furbabies for an hour, some play time and cuddles while we watch tv and eat dinner together. Perhaps even a full body brush before I make them comfy for bed for the night.
I can provide extra services such as watering plants and collecting mail.
A meet and greet before your dates begin is optimal to talk over your requirements. I can come to your home for this. Depending on the service you require you can give me a spare key and this will be returned at the end of your booking.
I have a police clearance and you can read my previous pet sitting reviews on FB RoxysRoadtripNZ where me and my dog Roxy embarked on a permanent 18 month petsit/roadtrip adventure around NZ in 2018/2019. We met and made many wonderful friends over this time. I have over 1.8k photos uploaded and many videos too. It is a treasure trove of memories!
Previous clients have booked my services so their pets can have exercise and company while they are at work or on the other end of the spectrum - daily visits/walks while they are on holiday.
If you have any special requirements, medication or special diet to follow, I am very cautious and diligent with following instructions.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have!
Full refund if canceled before 12:00 p.m. one day before the booking, 50% refund afterward.
No refund is payable if the booking is canceled on or after the start date.
Note: All times are based on the sitter’s time zone
Dana has been an amazing and reliable dog sitter/Walker for my two doggos over the past 6 months. Flexible with times and updating me everyday with how they are getting on and also lots of photos and videos. My two have really enjoyed seeing Dana everyday and it’s been a weight off my mind knowing my dogs are being seen by someone as caring, trustworthy and patient as Dana. I’d recommend to anyone
Dana is professional and reliable. Work under regulation and contactless take care of our puppy while we are being essential workers during lockdown. She's such a big help.
I am an experienced caregiver of the furry kind. I currently have one dog - Roxy and one cat - Ragnar and 3 Chickens.
I have training in animal clinical care and animal welfare from Unitec Auckland. I have volunteered a substantial amount of hours at SPCA and doggy day care facilities as well as spending 18 months travelling NZ providing long stay petsitting and housesitting services (2018/2019). See my petsit page on FB RoxysRoadtripNZ
I have cared for dogs, cats, chickens, llamas and alpacas, horses, steer, cockatiels, rabbits .... I really get so much satisfaction from being around animals and it really is a pleasure to be able to look after others pets while they are away.
I am constantly learning and do my best to keep up to date with the latest in animal welfare practices, dog training and behavioural enrichment, news and what the local rescue organisations are up to.
I am a confident, caring, passionate pet owner and I look forward to giving your pet the love and attention it deserves in your absence.
I can also wash and groom your pet for a little extra as part of my pet sitting service.
