Kia Ora,

My name is Sophie, I am a friendly, outgoing, very ambitious, and compassionate 18 year old student currently attending my last year of College. I live at home just down the road from the beach with my family, and two small Cavoodle dogs.

Before the first lockdown my mum used Pawshake and we would take care of the animals together, I would help her with things like walking them, playing, feeding, bathing, and they'd sleep in my room with me. Sadly we stopped pawshake when COVID hit. During the time I spent with Pawshake in the past, I learned skills to take care of dogs with their different personalities, characteristics, & traits; some of those being shy, hyper, anxious, scared of men, had health issues, or were rescues with some continuous fearful traits. None of these traits changed my amount of caring or love for any one of them. It helped me learn at a young age about the different needs & wants that each individual animal required & what care works best for them. I have human health and safety training and experience with animals with behavioural problems, (not including intense aggression or reactive).

I re-continued dog walking for a while in 2023, where I would walk dogs individually, as I don't do multiple bookings at once. A dog walk with me would entail, walking them on the beach (or another place if preferred), playing with them, if they like to then potentially swimming with them and rinsing them off after, playing fetch, little runs, etc. A typical walk normally would last an hour, less if the dog has any health issues, more if the dog needs more exercise.

I volunteer at Ngā Manu nature reserve two times a week, where I take care of the keas, do maintenance, and on some weekends host children's birthday parties. I love animals, and I would love to help take care of, and entertain any animals you need help with. If given the chance I hope to give the animals you love the experience they deserve to have, with a pet sitter who loves what they do and wants to ensure that your animal has a good time.

I have my license and a car, I am social, communicative, trustworthy, empathetic and friendly. Some of my interests include singing, beach walks, hiking and swimming.

I have school from times 8:50am-3:15pm Monday's to Friday's, but am able to leave school on breaks to check on animals throughout the day if need be.
