A little about me

Hello, I’m Andrea. I’m a mature, experienced and responsible pet and house sitter who genuinely loves animals and enjoys the opportunity to care for them in their own home. I especially love walking dogs and getting to know their individual personalities and routines.

For the past 15 years, I have been house and pet sitting both in New Zealand and overseas. I have cared for all sorts of animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, guinea pigs and horses — and even a donkey in France!

I was born and raised in Germany but have called New Zealand home for the past 40 years. I worked for Air New Zealand for 12 years before becoming a freelance tour leader, taking overseas visitors around New Zealand. I am now semi-retired, although I still occasionally work as a tour leader during the summer months.

From May to September, I usually return to Europe, which gives me the wonderful opportunity to combine my love of travel with my passion for animals and house sitting. So far, I have enjoyed looking after homes and pets in Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Greece, as well as throughout New Zealand.

As my work previously made it difficult to have pets of my own, pet sitting has been a wonderful way for me to enjoy the companionship of animals while helping homeowners feel completely comfortable and confident while they are away.

I understand that leaving your home and beloved pets in someone else’s care requires trust. I am respectful of people’s homes, reliable, tidy and attentive to the little things that help pets feel happy and secure. I am happy to follow your pets’ usual routines, give them plenty of attention and make sure they receive the care and companionship they are used to.
