Hi, I’m Jon from Wales, now a local Nelson resident with several years of experience caring for pets of all kinds, dogs of every breed and size, and cats. I genuinely love animals and enjoy spending time outdoors, taking dogs on walks around Nelson’s beautiful nature spots. My walks typically range from 30–60 minutes, depending on the dog’s age, energy, and needs and I am usually out on a local walk or in nature. I’m comfortable handling pets both on and off lead and can administer medication when required. I have administered medication to animals and am medication trained in my job as a support worker ..

I provide a calm, safe, alcohol and smoke-free environment for every pet I care for. I’ve worked with dogs who are shy, high-energy, or strong-willed, even traumatised and I adjust my approach to suit each one. Cats get plenty of attention, and I make sure their routines and comfort are maintained.

A typical day for a pet under my care might include a 1 or 2 walks a day depending on the energy of the dog , feeding, playtime, with regular updates sent to the owner. I tend to work 9-4 as a support worker but my job is flexible so I am able to go back and check on the animals and also take them for walks with my clients depending on the situation ; I usually have wknds free to spend lots more time with the animals. I treat every home and pet as if they were my own, ensuring pets feel comfortable, happy, and loved while their owners are away. I am calm in emergencies and honest and transparent when issues arise. An example of when I acted calmly in an emergency was when a dog hurt his leg and couldn't walk and I carried him off the beach and took him straight to the vet.. I then had to prescribe medication on a daily basis and cut out exercise and build this back into his routine in a careful manner. I am mature and experienced and make sure things are safe like doors are locked and appliances turned off .
