About me -

Hi, I'm Arun! I have been passionate about animals my entire life, whether it was trying to convince my mum to get us a dog, cat sitting for neighbors, or raising my own three cats at home. I have a long history with interacting with and looking after animals, and it would my pleasure to look after your beloved pet(s)! You can rest assured knowing that I will treat your beloved ones with patience and respect. I recently completed my Bachelor's of Science, double majoring in Ecology and Psychology, so now have ample time to spend caring after your animal(s). I also have 2 weeks of work experience at two different veterinaries which I completed several years ago when I was attempting to get into the Veterinary program at Massey University. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my three cats, going for hikes around Wellington and serving as a Volunteer Firefighter at the Seaview Fire Brigade.

Why did I become a pet sitter? -

My desire to become a pet sitter arose after hearing about it from a university friend who is studying to become a vet, and accompanying her on a few of her visits (with permission of course). This desire was further fueled after seeing a dog walker with seven dogs in Wellington and thinking to myself "Wow, that's a dream job right there". I'm also looking forward to use this job as an avenue to meet new people and animals.

My services -

One of the services I offer are house visits, where I can check up on, feed, play with, and clean after your pets. Alternatively, I can also offer simple dog walking, or homestays, where I am able to live in your house and carry out any usual daily routines that your animals may require. I am also able to send updates via text, phone or Facebook messenger at your request.

These services include all of the standard service expectations, which are:

At least 1 x photo update per day or house visit

Keeping in contact with you regarding any changes with the pet(s) and if required bringing the pets to the vet when agreed to by the you or in an emergency

Feeding the pet as required

Access to fresh water

If your pet is a dog, that it is able to go to the toilet regularly

Basic medication (non-injectables)

Pets are kept in a hygienic condition - any messes of the pet are cleaned up, and any signs of illness or injury are reported to the owner

What you can expect from specific services -

Dog walking (Duration - 30 minutes)

Your dog is left in an area stipulated by you upon your return

House/apartment locked up and secured after the booking AND while out on walks

Any keys returned at the end of the booking as instructed by you

Walking and spending that time with the dog

If it is too cold or too hot to walk the dog, alternative forms of physical exercise or enrichment for the dog as agreed to by you

No off lead dog play unless allowed by you in an appropriate area

Home visits (Duration - 30 minutes)

House/apartment locked up and secured after the booking

Any keys returned at the end of the booking as instructed by you

Collecting mail and taking out the garbage (if required)

Price includes the care of up to 3 pets

Cats - clean litter tray and spend time with the cat

Dogs - spend time engaging and playing with the dog. Dogs will be brought out to the toilet.

Puppies/senior dogs - clean up any mess made by the dog

Small pets - Tidy cages and do a full clean if the booking is more than 4 days

House Sitting (Duration - 24 hours)

Housekeeping - collect mail, water plants, put out the bins on garbage day

House/apartment locked up and secure after the booking

Empty out rubbish, dirty dishes washed and put away, appliances in working order, bathroom and floors clean - to the same condition it was when I arrive

I will be the only person at the house at all times unless otherwise discussed with and agreed upon by you

Any keys will be returned at the end of the booking as instructed by you the owner

Price includes the care of up to 3 pets

Cats - clean litter tray and spend time with the cat

Dogs - At least 1 hour of physical exercise (can be broken down as indoor/outdoor play, multiple walks or one long walk as per agreement with you); I will pick up all dog poop in the backyard during the stay

Dog and cats have space to move around and explore. They will not be tied up or kept in a crate for long periods of time.

Small pets - Tidy cages and do a full clean if the booking is more than 4 days
