I got my first dog at age 2; she was a rescue and she was ADORABLE! She lived with us for 10 wonderful years (though she was a bit agressive because of her past), and since i got her, i have been living my life surrounded by beautiful, rescued animals. Being that I'm from South Africa, there are many abandoned dogs and cats just wondering the streets; i adopted 4 of these angels and gave them a loving home until I immigrated to New Zealand. I so desperately wanted to bring them, but I didnt have to heart to put them through the 6+ months in quarantine; we gave them to a very close family friend and I still get regular photos and updates on how they're doing.
Moving to New Zealand was a big change, but the one thing that will always be a constant in my life is animals. I adopted 2 beautiful brothers, kittens, from the SPCA and they are living the dream ( and taking over the beds, and couches, and laundry baskets). When I saw them in the cage at the SPCA, sleeping on top of each other in their water bowl, I knew I would take them home; I brought them home with me that day! Not only am I extremely happy to have my own beauties again, I am also fostering puppies so that they can find their forever homes.
Giving loving care, and kisses, to animals, is something I am so passionate about! Every animal deserves to be loved and cared for every second of every day, and a fun walk to an amazing park is definitely necessary!
Walk are typically from 1 to 3 hours depending on the specific needs (size, breed, age, level of fitness, etc) of your little angel. The walking fees are charged per day and not per walk; some dogs need more exercise than others, and no dog should be walked less because of the cost of walking fees. A tired is a happy dog; a treat every now and then, and lots of love and toys also helps.
I myself have two cats, who are very comfortable with other animals, so the dogs who will be staying over will become a part of the family for how ever long they're staying. Beds, water and food bowls, toys; it's all right here under the roof of my beautiful home.
As someone who studies part-time, I have all the time to run, play and give lots of love to your precious pets. And because I have a fully fenced back yard with a beautiful porch, they'll be free to run around whenever they like.I am currently studying part time to become a vet nurse and have also completed Part one and
two of my three part veterinary assistant training and I am also completing an animal care
certificate. My vet assistant course has an entire section based entirely on reception and
administration within a vet hospital, including efficient filing systems, appropriate and skilled
client greeting and communication when dealing with euthanasia, expensive payments and how
to appropriately present them to grieving clients and assistance with afraid pets in the waiting
room and their owners.
As someone who has rescued, and adopted rescued animals, since the earliest days of my
childhood, it has become my life goal to save those animals in need. Growing up in South
Africa, there are many abandoned animals wandering aimlessly through the streets, so on
weekends and after school hours, I would volunteer at the local SPCA; that was the trigger that
really sparked my devotion to rescue animals. I currently am one of the foster parents for the
Mangere SPCA and constantly show my support by donating to the shelter, as well as many
others.
In my current training, as well as in the training I have already completed, I have become well
equipped to handle life threatening situations. CPR on various animals, including humans, first
aid, and the correct methods of feeding and approaching frightened animals, and pets, are
some of the things I am skilled in performing.
