Grace

Kia ora, my name is Grace (she/her), 27, a Zoologist based in Auckland, New Zealand. I love animals, having grown up being surrounded by many animals (with the most being 5 cats, 4 dogs, and fish at one time). This love for animals is what inspired me to study Zoology and follow a career in Wildlife Management and Conservation. Since finishing my MSc in Zoology, I have worked with a lizard consultancy company in New Zealand and as a seasonal ecologist surveying bats in the UK. Currently, I work casually as a Conservation Officer and also in Natural Sciences at Auckland Museum so I am only able to take on specific jobs that are closer to home (Mt Eden area) due to time constraints at the moment. As a nature lover, I enjoy going on hikes and taking dogs for a variety of nature walks, such as to the beach, bush, and parks.

My dog walking/pet sitting experience includes working as a dog walker and pet sitter with Happy Wags in Christchurch in 2018–2019 and with Pawshake since 2019, in addition to having grown up surrounded by animals (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, a mouse, and a budgie) and looking after friends’ pets when they have gone away. I have experience grooming dogs and cats (i.e., cutting nails, brushing, and bathing) and giving medications (i.e., de-fleaing, eye drops for conjunctivitis, and oral medications). I also have experience looking after animals from a range of ages, from puppies/kittens, going through toilet and obedience training with them, to old dogs/cats, keeping them comfortable and supplying them with their daily medications.
