Hi, I’m Amber! I’m 25 years old and have been working in the animal care industry for over eight years, including more than two years on Pawshake.

Caring for animals isn’t just something I do, it’s something I’ve grown up with and genuinely love. I was raised in the South Island on a dairy farm, and over the years I’ve gained hands-on experience with a wide range of animals, from household pets to farm animals, including dairy and bee farming. I’ve also volunteered with the SPCA in Dunedin, where I worked closely with rescue cats and kittens.

Over the past few years, I’ve been pet sitting full-time in both Dunedin, Wanaka and Queenstown, caring for a variety of pets with different needs and personalities. I originally started offering my services through Facebook, simply wanting to help people who needed someone trustworthy to care for their pets, and it quickly grew into something I’m incredibly passionate about.

I have three indoor cats of my own, so I completely understand how important it is to find someone you truly trust. Because of that, I always treat every pet as if they were my own, with patience, care, and attention to their individual needs.

House visits & in-home sitting

While I’m unable to board pets in my own home, I offer flexible drop-in visits and overnight stays in your home. During visits, I can spend up to an hour (or longer if arranged) feeding, playing, and keeping your pets company while maintaining their usual routine to help reduce any stress while you’re away.

For in-home stays, I’m happy to follow your pet’s daily routine closely, including feeding, walks, playtime, and cuddles. I’m experienced with administering medications and can provide emergency transport if needed, as I have my own vehicle. I’m also more than happy to help with small household tasks like watering plants, bringing in mail, or putting bins out.

If you have a shy or anxious pet, especially cats, I understand that giving them space and moving at their pace is key. I’m very mindful of boundaries and always approach animals in a calm, respectful way.

Dog walking

I offer dog walking for up to an hour, either around your local area or by taking your dog to a location of your choice. I can transport up to two dogs at a time and am confident handling dogs of all energy levels, including those that may be a bit strong on the lead or require extra patience.

Additional experience

I’m also confident caring for farm animals and lifestyle blocks, so if you have a mix of pets and livestock, I’m more than happy to help.

I provide regular updates with photos during every booking, so you can relax knowing your pets are safe, happy, and well cared for.

I always recommend a meet and greet beforehand to make sure everyone feels comfortable and it’s the right fit.
