For pet parents, one of the hardest things about going to work each day is wondering what your dog will get up to while you are gone. At Pawshake, we understand that dogs need activity and interaction during the day, so why not book your dog with one of our trusted sitters in Christchurch for a doggy day care service? You can drop your dog off at the sitter’s home on the way to work or organise with your local Christchurch Pawshake sitter to pick up and drop off your dog for you.

Pet day care is a great way to keep your dog mentally and physically active during the day so that you can come home to a happy, relaxed dog. Pawshake’s home day care service is great for young dogs who need constant supervision: puppy daycare allows your pup to maintain a consistent routine, which is important during the toilet training process. It’s also a great option for dogs who need extra care and attention, or those who are extra active.

Our sitters who offer doggy day care and puppy daycare services are more adaptable than your average big day care centre. Numbers are kept small and some Pawshake sitters will only take in one dog at a time. This means they can work around your timing and any special requirements your dog may have. So, let your four-legged best friend enjoy their day with a fun and loving Christchurch sitter who will shower them with love and dedicated attention. On top of that, you will also get photos and updates during the day so that you can follow your dog’s day care adventures!

Every day care booking also comes included with The Pawshake Guarantee, which includes veterinary coverage, customer service support 7 days a week and more.

Hi! My name is Sophia, I'm 26 and from Derbyshire in the UK. I currently live in Richmond, Christchurch and I am a freelance photographer (meaning you'll get plenty of doggo pics from walks!) Richmond is great as there are plenty of green spaces to walk/run through, however I do enjoy a walk around Hagley Park and Bottle Lake Park too. There are plenty of places to walk near me but I can go wherever - although I do think dogs like the trails and parks more!
Absolutely love dogs which is my main motivator to become a pet sitter/walker. From February to March last year, I house sat and looked after a lively (but fun) cocker spaniel which I thoroughly enjoyed. This included 2 walks at least 30 minutes long, feeding twice a day, regularly playing with her and making sure she was sticking to her usual routine. This was a young dog and so making sure she adhered to the house rules that her owner had set was essential. I have also regularly looked after other dogs including labradors, cockapoos, a shih tzu, a vizsla, siberian husky, bedlington terriers and others. This has been at other houses as well as my own.
I will be able to walk dogs at any point at the day at the moment, for everyday of the week. I can offer dog walking and sitting, able to do overnight stays too. For home visits I will be able to do other little jobs such as watering plants if needed! I am very reliable and always lock doors and windows before leaving my own house and others too.
I’ve had a dog for over 10 years myself who I miss greatly now that I am the otherside of the pond, so pet sitting and walking has been a great way to have a doggo fix, get outside with them and give them all the love while their owners are away!

Hi I'm Holly, I'm 34 years old, I work as the marketing manager for a real estate business in the CBD, I have a 5yr old heading x huntaway mix and own my own home in Parklands, walking distance to the forest, beach, and dog friendly parks.
I am available for dog boarding in my home with seperate garden spaces and plenty of sheltered outdoor space with a well-insulated dog house if needed. I can cater to indoor and outdoor pets but they must be friendly with other dogs as I have my dog Bailey.
I am also available for visiting your pet in your own home while you're away. Each visit is approx 30mins and can include feeding, cuddling, interactive play time, watering house plants, collecting mail and putting out/bringing in bins if needed. I have experience administering oral medication, ear & eye drops, basic grooming such as trimming nails, brushing, bathing if needed. Short dog walks during these visits can be included if required.
I am confident with cats, dogs, rabbits, mice, fish, chickens, and other farm animals.
**Please note I do work full time weekdays**
WEDDING DAY SERVICEWant to include your pup in your big day? I offer transport to and from your venue, supervision and handling during ceremony and photography session, walks before and after and feeding if required. Costume accessories not included but I can source these if required, however a simple floral crown/collar to match your bridal photos is a great option that your florist should be able to out together! This service can also include overnight boarding at my home in Parklands so you can nenjoy your wedding night fur-child-free!
I'm happy to come & meet your pup and discuss options & pricing in person, and any special requirements or behaviours they might have.
Pricing starts at $150 with extra charge depending on travel distance and hours required.

Hi there!
My name's Jess, I am 29 years old and I recently finished studying a biology degree at the University of Canterbury. I have some odd days here and there free so get in touch and can see if I would be available to walk or keep your pet company in the comfort of their own home.I currently work Thursday to Monday anywhere between 7am-7pm. But can see if something works if anyone has any trouble getting a walker or sitter :)
I have a rural background and am originally from the North Island but have been living in Christchurch for the last 8 years where my partner and I own a home in Richmond.
I have experience with a wide range of animals from farm animals, working dogs, house dogs, cats, rabbits, fish! I am confident in handling super shy pets, hyperactive pets to pets that don't yet have a lot of training or don't love being around people.
I am available to house sit or pop in regularly to check in on your pet.
Dog walking (approx 45 minutes) for your dog, or other entertainment. No off lead walks unless specified by you.
House visits (approx 45 minutes) spending time and interacting with your pet, letting them out to the toilet, playing and entertaining, feeding, medications, cleaning cat litter trays and making sure they have everything they need until you return. I could in future look after a dog at our fully fenced and secure home but would have to be well acquainted with our dog, as Snow rules the house!Options for the beach and forest if I also take our dog Snow for a long walk and a swim so am happy to travel on occasions.
Pictures and any updates of your pets will be provided with every walk and visit!
Let me know if you have any questions and I looking forward to meeting you and your pet!

My experience with pet care comes from growing up in a household for 19 years with 3+ cats and a dog. From a young age, I had full responsibility for their care, including looking after them into their senior years. This involved close attention to diet, administering medication (including diabetic injections), and understanding individual needs.

I work from home as a software engineer, which means your pet will have consistent supervision and companionship throughout the day. I follow each pet’s routine closely — including feeding schedules, walk times, and any specific care instructions. I’m very active and happy to tailor walks to your pet’s needs, whether that’s a short stroll or longer hikes. I also have a fully fenced property, providing a safe outdoor space if needed.
I’m confident handling different temperaments and behaviours, and I take the time to build trust so each pet feels comfortable and secure. I understand that every animal is different, and I adapt my approach to suit them.
I’ve previously done pet sitting in Canada, where I have great references. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and treat every pet as if they were my own.

i! I’m a reliable and caring weekend pet sitter in Christchurch, focused on making sure every pet feels happy, safe, and loved while their owners are away. I specialize in weekend care, giving busy owners peace of mind.
I have two dogs of my own — a Jack Russell Terrier who rules the house and a Lab x Kelpie who loves the ball — and have cared for them for over 3.5 years. This hands-on experience has taught me patience, understanding, and how to manage different dog personalities and needs.
Our fully fenced yard offers a safe space to run and play. I supervise outdoor time closely and ensure pets are never left alone for long. I’m comfortable handling basic training needs and special requests. In emergencies, I have a plan to contact vets and owners promptly.
I offer dog walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays at my place (if pets are dropped off). I prefer small to medium dogs due to my Jack Russell’s comfort level and only take vaccinated pets for everyone’s safety.
