I’m a policy analyst in the public sector in my early 30s, how very Wellington of me. I am available for pet+house sits from now until late July 2024. Sits from 4 days/3 nights or longer preferred, shorter sits may be considered on a case-by-case basis. No maximum sit-length. I do not offer hosting (sits at my house) or day visits.

My workplace is flexible, so I can work from home a couple of days a week (although not everyday) and can spend lots of quality time with your pet/s in the evenings to ensure they get plenty of company while you are away. I can do basic grooming and administer pill medication but am inexperienced with needles/injections. I have friends who are dog trainers although am not one myself. If you have training you would like me to maintain while you are away I can follow instructions (like a dog) and try my best to make sure they don’t regress. I’d love to walk your dog during the dog+house sit. The length, location, and frequency is something I’d like to confirm on a case-by-case basis as each dog is different. Location will depend on where you live, I do not have a car. I can send regular updates, photos etc - let me know what level of communication you'd prefer. 

I can also water plants, bring in mail - and other minor house sit services. More substantial services, like weeding/gardening, would need to be discussed beforehand, and this may impact my rate. I am very security conscious, for both me, the pets, and your house. I check doors and windows in the evenings and when I leave for work etc. Please let me know if there are other security measures or concerns specific to your house or pet that I should be aware of. 

I genuinely enjoy being around animals, particularly domestic animals that I can become familiar with and learn their personalities. I had pets growing up (both cats and dogs, although cats for significantly longer) and have even volunteered for short stints at the SPCA in the cat and kitten sections. Several friends of mine have pets and I’ve been fortunate to help them out with looking after their pets (cats and dogs) while they have been away on holiday - I’ve done this for several years. Over the last year I’ve done several longer cat sits, up to 3 weeks, and have also cat sat for friends of friends who were strangers to me prior to cat sitting. If it’s feasible, I think it’d be great to meet the humans and pets, and see the house before a sit - so we can build familiarity and trust. Can also provide cat/dog sitting referees. I have only just joined Pawshake, so this is the beginning of extending my services out beyond my existing network.

I'm gearing up to move overseas later in the year. Looking for pet and house sits till the end of July so I can continue to be close to the city (for work and social life), spend more time with animals, get to experience different parts of Wellington before I leave, and maybe even save a little to help with relocation costs.
