About Mel
Kia Ora!
My name is Melinda (or Aunty Mel as a lot of pet owners call me!) I adore animals and have plenty of experience with all sorts of animals. I'm used to dealing with dogs of all sizes (from Great Danes and Newfoundlands to Chihuahuas and Malteses) and all sorts of cats. I have had my own rabbits, goldfish, budgies, canaries and even turtles so can look after a variety of pets.
I love being with and around animals which is one of the reasons why I have become a pet sitter and dog walker. I understand that every pet is unique and all come with their own quirks and personalities which is why I am happy to take things at their pace whether they are shy and nervous or excitable and bouncy.
In 2015 I successfully completed training and become a PetTech Instructor which means I am more than capable of providing Pet First Aid and Pet CPR
I live in Lower Hutt with my own transport so am happy to look after any pets in the southern Hutt Valley region. At home I live with a cat (who thinks she's the boss and loves taking liberties) a dog (who loves all foods!) my two children and my wonderful husband.
I enjoy reading and photography and spending time with friends and family.
I am very organised and am happy to provide regular updates and photographs while you are away so you will have peace of mind and can truly relax knowing your pet is well taken care of.
I am available in the late afternoons and evenings for dog walking and home visits Mon-Fri and I can do home visits morning and afternoon/evening during weekends and over the upcoming holiday season (late Dec - early Jan) I am comfortable administrating any medications such as topical and oral medications and even injections (such as insulin for diabetic animals) when required.
