Hi there! I'm Claire, and I'm thrilled to bring my passion for pets to Pawshake. With over a decade of experience in animal care, including working as a Veterinary Nurse and then operating my own Dog Walking & Pet Sitting business in Australia, I've dedicated my life to providing compassionate and reliable care to pets.

My experience began by volunteering at my local SPCA, where I spent my weekends helping re-home rescue cats and dogs. I soon found that my time spent volunteering was far more rewarding than my 9-5 office job, and I decided I wanted to pursue a career helping animals. I began an apprenticeship as a Veterinary Nurse, where I worked and studyed full-time in a Veterinary clinic for 3 years and gaining invaluable experience and knowledge in pet care.

While working as a Veterinary Nurse was incredibly rewarding, I also recognized the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I made the decision to embark on a career break to travel. Not long into my travels, I missed being surrounded by animals every day, so I began pet sitting. I pet sat my way through Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Europe. This is where I met Pepper; the gorgeous Golden Retriever in Switzerland! I also cared for Pepper's 13-year-old brother, Pickles, and his younger brother, Dickens, who was 8 months old. So there I was, hiking in the Swiss Alps with a pack of Golden Retrievers smiling up at me, and I can honestly say I'd never felt so happy and content in my life; it was a bit of a light bulb moment! Just to be with dogs while in their element; out in nature, running, playing, exploring, and just being, well, dogs.

When I returned home, I founded "Tails on Trails" Townsville, my own dog walking & pet sitting business. It grew quickly, but deep down, I knew I wanted to be based in New Zealand, so I packed up my life and moved to NZ. Now based in Christchurch, I've joined the Pawshake platform to share my expertise and passion with pet owners seeking reliable and compassionate care for their beloved companions.

From administering medications to recognizing signs of distress, my background in Veterinary Nursing equips me with the skills and knowledge to ensure your pets receive the highest quality care. Whether it's long walks in the park, cozy cuddles at home, or simply providing companionship while you're away, I'm dedicated to making sure your pets feel happy, safe, and loved.
