Hi there 

My motivation

My ‘happy place’ in life is with nature and animals. I love spending time with animals...... getting to know their different personalities, spending time playing, walking and having cuddles..... this is one of life's true pleasures.  

My experience

Having been pet deprived as a young child, I began to walk the neighbourhood dogs either with or for people from the age of 9 upwards (my enthusiasm for this probably made me a bit of a pest, knocking on people’s doors asking to take their dogs out!) Then in my early 20s I spent a lot of time with a family who had numerous rabbits, cats, dogs and chickens and my pet obsession was well and truly cemented.  

Since moving to NZ from the UK five years ago, I have made a firm friendship with the beautiful Border Collie in the pics, Ace. He is a friend’s dog, with whom I have regular long walks and sleepovers (in fact, my enchantment with him is such that the running joke is that I only maintain the friendship to access him!) 

What I can offer

If given the opportunity to sit/walk/do drop-ins for you I will treat your pets with the same care and attention as if my own, fully immersing myself in their world. Over the last couple of years I have had a career break (from 20 years in the criminal justice system), to be a mature student of apiculture and horticulture. So, as I am currently doing casual work I have plenty of time to give to your furry friends.  

I will also treat your home with the same respect as if my own; I like to live peacefully, am a responsible, clean and tidy person. Am happy to undertake some agreed jobs while you are away and will leave your home spotless.  

Flexible with how homeowners want to organize any 'meet and greet' beforehand, as it's important to make sure both the furry friends and humans will be happy and comfortable with the sit. I will also send text and photo updates according to your preferences. 

I am a permanent NZ resident and am able to provide a criminal record check if desired.   

True story: the photo of the beautiful big brown bunny, Mitzy, is of me face-timing her. She and her partner, McFluffy, weren’t allowed to move to NZ, so they went to live with their Aunty Ali who kindly indulged my requests for weekly video calls with them!
