Thank you for considering to check out my profile! My name is Marj and I work as a full-time Veterinary Nurse at SPCA Veterinary Hospital. I have worked as a Veterinary Nurse for almost two years. Just a bit of background about myself - I moved to NZ from the Philippines when I was 12. Throughout my childhood I have always been around animals, rescuing them from the streets and taking them home with me/us. My parents told us to stop when we got to about 10 dogs! At the moment I have two furbabies - Mojo is a 10-year old Labrador cross and Gabe is a 3-year old Ridgeback cross (we think). Mojo lives with my parents in Levin and Gabe lives with me 50% of the time as I share him with my ex-partner, kinda like a split custody thing. I haven't owned cats but I foster them from work (SPCA). While studying I worked at a Doggy Daycare and Boarding facility and became a foster for a local rescue organization where Gabe became my first and only foster fail.
While looking after your furbabies I can take them to dog parks, beaches, and reserves (dog-friendly ones of course) and wherever your usual hang-out or walking paths are. I usually do this when the weather is good, otherwise, indoor activities such as playtime and cuddling take place. I used to live in West Auckland but have recently moved to South Auckland earlier this year so I am slowly learning where the doggy spots are out south!
Nothing fills me more than seeing a happy and content animal. I am confident with looking after all breeds (big and small, friendly and spicy, young and senior). For example, if I am looking after reactive dogs then I would walk either early morning or early evening around spots that aren't too busy.
For house sitting, I work full-time during the day, 5-6 days a week so looking after older animals that can stay home 7-8 hours by themselves would suit best. I have my own car so I am able to transport your furbabies wherever they need to be (vet appointments, ability to take them to after-hours if need be). I have experience in administering oral and injectable medications should they need it for maintenance. I will care for your animals like they are my own.
My house visits would be around 30mins to an hour (morning and evening) which will include feeding and toileting and even a little bit of playtime! This will depend on the animals as well. I have looked after animals that prefer to be by themselves so if you just need someone to visit 1-2 a day to feed them and fill up their water bowls, take mail inside and even water your plants - I will do that! I am a homebody so after work or on my days off, rest assured your animals would hardly be left alone.
I would love the opportunity to meet and care for your beloved furbabies while you are away. I am big on photos so you will definitely get daily photo updates! I am happy to meet up and be able to get to know you and your furbabies. I understand each animal have their own needs and preferences so I fully support the idea of meetups to ensure you and your pet(s) would be comfortable with me before you decide to book :)
