About Emma

**Currently not available for dog boarding while we relocate and renovate our house, but available for house sitting, house visits, and dog walking from Friday to Sunday**

Greetings to all pet parents on Pawshake!

As a big animal lover and proud owner of two Border Collies myself, I know just how crucial it is to find a trustworthy caregiver for your beloved furry friend. I offer a range of services, including dog walking, pet visits, dog boarding, and house sitting. To ensure an enjoyable experience for your beloved pet, I kindly ask that we do a meet-and-greet beforehand. This is important to me, as it allows your pet to become familiar with me and vice versa. By spending this time together, I can understand your pet's needs, preferences, and any special requirements they may have. Building this connection ensures that your pet feels comfortable and at ease in my care, while giving you the assurance that they are receiving top-notch care and are in loving and capable hands.

I am happy to come to your home to check in on and spend time with your pet, take your dog for a walk, or house sit. However, I don't offer house sitting for longer periods of time, as I don't like spending too much time away from my own dogs and partner. I am happy to offer house sitting for a couple of nights at a time (and preferably over the weekend). I am also open to having dogs over for doggy playdates/visits, or overnight stays at my house. My dogs are generally quite friendly and playful, and they love making new doggy friends. There are, however, sometimes some dogs that they don't always get along with, so before arranging any boarding, a meet-and-greet will be necessary to ensure compatibility between your dog(s) and mine.

For adventurous outings, I frequently take my dogs to spots like Rough Island, Brightwater River, Kina Beach, Saxtons, Barnicoat, and The Glen. These locations provide the perfect setting for off-leash runs, swims, and socialization—far from the hustle of traffic. If your dog stays with us, we'd be happy to include them on these exciting walks, ensuring they have a fantastic time while enjoying the company of other doggy friends. My dogs are generally well-behaved and have a good recall. Most of our walks are off-lead, and we walk for at least 30 minutes every morning and evening, regardless of the weather. I use positive reinforcement when training, and I always have tasty treats on hand for every walk to keep the training going.

As an owner of two Border Collies, I have also gained insight into the requirements of intelligent and energetic breeds that thrive on mental stimulation and brain games. Known for their overthinking and anxious tendencies, my dogs have also provided me with firsthand experience in training and caring for anxious, nervous, or reactive dogs. Drawing from my own journey with my dog, Koda, who is reactive to cars and gets anxious around various other sounds and settings, I am well-equipped to handle similar challenges.

About Me:

I am originally from Denmark but have lived in New Zealand for a total of 9 years of my life; 4 years from age 1 to 5, and almost 5 years this time around. When I moved from Denmark, I had to leave my much-beloved family dog behind, as it wasn't feasible to bring him along due to his age. But fate smiled upon him, as the new buyers of our house took him in. I found peace in knowing that he'd be spending his golden years with new loving and caring owners, making wonderful memories in the same house. However, after leaving Denmark, my heart was always longing for the companionship of a furry friend. To fill that void, I began dog/house sitting for friends and relatives, embracing the unconditional love and happiness that these four-legged companions bring.

Finally, last year, my partner and I were able to get our own dog, Koda. The joy that Koda brought was immeasurable, and it didn't take long for us to realize that he needed a buddy of his own. That's when our other pup, Ellie, came into our lives, completing our little fur family.

I work as a Client and Operations Manager for a building company, and am lucky to have great flexibility within my work hours. As I do almost all of my work from my computer, I can work remotely, which gives me the freedom to work from home when needed (which was especially great last year, when we had two young puppies at home).

Earlier this year, my partner and I bought our first house together, which we are looking to renovate in the coming months. We currently live in central Richmond, but the plan is actually to relocate our house to Stoke later this year, where we have an empty section waiting for us.

We don't have kids, so our dogs more or less get treated as if they were our kids. They are pretty spoiled and get all of our attention. As a dog owner myself, I understand the importance of providing a nurturing and secure environment for your furry friends. I promise that your pup will be showered with attention, care, exercise and lots of playtime with me. I am also happy to send daily photos and updates of my time spent with your pet.

Please get in touch to discuss a booking. I can't wait to meet your beloved pet and create new friendships!

Emma was absolutely fantastic. She sent through many photos which clearly showed how happy our two boys were with her. She went out of her way to take them to the dog park, an environment they are familiar with.

Highly recommended, and I intend to book her again! Thankyou Emma 🥰

Emma went out of her way to fit round our weekend trip away and we couldn't have been happier with the care she took of firstly our dogs and secondly our quirky wee house. We would highly recommend Emma's services and we hope to use her again.
