I’m Ru,

I’m 21 and I have just completed a Bachelor’s degree at Massey University here in Palmerston North. Growing up I had two beautiful dogs (a Schnauzer and a Bichon Frise Shih Tzu mix). I joined Pawshake to make a positive impact in society and help people with pet-related tasks, making their lives easier. 

Why choose me as your pet sitter/walker?

I’m happy to look after any mixture and number of domestic pets (cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs etc.). 🐰🐶🐱

I’m the ultimate animal lover, I follow a plant based diet and am fond of all animals and can care for a variety of pet(s). I enjoy the gym and nature so your pet(s) will be well-exercised after spending time with me. I’m a fast learner, trustworthy, and committed to ensuring your pet(s) are happy, healthy, and well-cared for. 

For the past five years I have been a volunteer at the SPCA. I also spent a week in Rarotonga in 2022 during a holiday volunteering at the SPCA. Through my many years of experience, I have had ample exposure to working with and walking an extensive range of breeds and sizes of dogs (in all seasons), using a harness for dogs who need it. I’m confident and comfortable with all dog types. I have walked huskies and mastiffs as big as 45kg and chihuahuas as small as a few kg. I love all animals and don’t discriminate. 🐾

Walks/runs:

Walk/run durations can be extended past 30 minutes or shortened to suit your dog’s needs. I have my own car and a full driver’s license so if your dog(s) feels safe in a car, I’d be more than happy to drive us to a park or river otherwise we’ll walk around the neighbourhood or to the nearest park or river. If there’s a specific place/route you’d like your dog(s) walked, please let me know and we can arrange it. 

During summer I walk dogs during the cooler hours and in the shade. If your dog has experience off lead, I’ll let them off lead to have a swim or run around depending on the location. I’m not scared of rain/wind, having plenty of experience in it, so your dog will get walked in all conditions (within reason) if they’re comfortable. If your dog wears a jacket, harness, sunblock, or any other pet-safe products during walks, please let me know. 

Home visit(s):

As per your instructions, I’ll provide food and clean water for your pet(s). I can also do tasks like laundry, collecting mail, watering plants, your pet(s) dishes, gardening, poop scoop, and cleaning your pet(s) area. I have a genuine love for animals, so I’ll spend plenty of time giving your pet(s) attention and love, playing with them, and letting them chill out doing whatever they’d like. If allowed, I’ll also give them a treat.

Overnight house sitting:

I’ll arrive in the evening around 9pm and stay until the morning, giving your pet(s) breakfast and water as per your instructions.

Daily updates:

I’ll provide multiple daily updates (with photos and videos as per your request) of your pet(s) making your trip stress-free so you can relax and enjoy your time away.  

Available areas:

I’m happy to visit areas surrounding Palmerston North within the Manawatū region for an extra fee. The price will differ depending on the location.

Extras:

If more than two home visits per day are needed, we can arrange it. Overnight house sitting is available for multiple nights depending on my availability so please let me know what your pet(s) requires. I’m super flexible and here to cater to your pet(s) so if they need extra time with me, we can definitely arrange it. If there are any other services you may need for your pet(s) please feel free to contact me. As long as clear instructions are provided, I’m also happy to administer medication. I can also wash, blow dry, and brush your pet for $30. 

I’m a non-drinker and don’t smoke or vape, so your pet(s) will be in professional, devoted, and reliable hands. Check out my photos to see some of my paw-some friends. 😊
