Hello! I'm Klay, a 39 year old female who very recently moved to Auckland from Sydney.

My partner is an Aucklander and we're based in Point Chev. I have taken a year's sabbatical from my work as a keeper and trainer at Taronga Zoo, in Sydney. I'm seeing this as an opportunity to experience a change of pace and, as life doesn't feel quite right without animals in it, I'd love the chance to care for and/or walk your furry/scaly/feathery loves ones.

I've previously had my own large dogs (golden retriever and boxer and mastiff crosses) and feel comfortable and confident with all sorts of breeds and temperaments. If you have an older or slower individual who needs a gentle leash walk, with plenty of time to sniff and then rest periodically in a nice grassy spot, no problem! I have a real soft spot for senior citizens 🥹. Or if yours is super active and prefers a fast-paced, long walk, with plenty of time to run around off-leash, great! Let's burn some of that energy together! Or perhaps your dog is a little reactive and feels more comfortable away from busy areas? I'll happily spend some time with you and your dog prior to ensure I understand how to keep your precious pooch safe and content. After our outing I'll always check for fresh water and am happy to provide enrichment/treats/a meal, whatever your dog prefers to ensure maximum contentment!

Feline friends? I will happily drop in and feed/refresh water/clean litter trays and of course spend time with your cat - give them a brush, let them curl up in my lap, just provide company - whatever your kitty prefers. Again, I can stop in and meet you before you go away so that I can build some rapport with your cat and find out how to ensure they are well looked after in your absence.

Snakes and lizards - no problem providing husbandry, feeding, checking temperature and humidity parameters, sunning - whatever your requirements are.

Birds - I absolutely love birds and through work have taken care of birds of prey, parrots, finches and budgies. I've had my own chickens (obsessed with chickens...), and will happily provide husbandry, collect eggs, refresh food and water, spend time with your feathered pals.

A little more about me: I have a calm, patient and intuitive approach with animals. I care about our environment and aim to tread gently on this earth. I love being outdoors and amongst nature. I'm happiest on a beach or in the bush (as we call it in Aus!).

I pride myself on excellent communication and reliability and will always put your animal's wellbeing first. Of course I'll be sure to keep you as updated as you like, with photos and various updates - whatever your preference is.

Regarding housesitting and boarding, I'm most definitely open to this depending on duration and location (shorter durations preferred). Just drop me a line and we can discuss your requirements.
