I have a strong love for dogs and their well-being and have had prior experience looking after friends ones before because I am eager to help out. I am limited to a wheelchair as I'm a paraplegic but that has never stopped me from being independent and taking on challenges - I can handle energetic dogs no bigger than the size of a Labrador. I also used to live on a farm where I had to look after many different kinds of animals so I understand many pets have unique requirements and personalities and I'm always keen to learn how to cater in their best interest. I will do everything I can to give the proper care and concern to the pets I am held responsible for. I can give basic medication to pets, wash and brush them if needed and will devote my time to making sure they're entertained and comforted by me. During daycare/boarding, when staying at an owners house or my own, I can stay with the dogs for the entire duration (this can be over 24 hours). I won't leave them alone at all and can help out with basic house needs if necessary, like watering plants or light cleaning etc. I'm on summer break for university so I don't have any commitments to make when looking after pets, meaning I'm also available during most days of the week if given prior notice. This means I can be available morning, afternoon and night whether looking after the pet at my own home or the owners. I can board up to two dogs and take them on multiple walks a day for longer than an hour. If I'm staying at an owners house, however, I will need to ensure there is a flat area near by for me to walk them. I currently live at home with my parents and sister who is 18, so there won't be any kids in the house. We also have two small dogs and a cat who are very friendly and should be fine staying with other dogs who are of the same nature. Since we have two dogs our entire backyard is fully fenced off with gates that are always locked. There isn't too much space to run around for a fairly big dog, but a little dog would suit well. I love taking care of animals and can ensure I will keep them safe during their stay!
