My name is Lucy and I am 20 years old. I grew up in Wellington and spent all of my spare time with my pets and helping others walk and train their dogs. I used to compete in agility with my three border collie crosses before I moved up to Palmy after highschool for university. I am currently in my third year of Animal Science: Breeding and Genetics at Massey Universtiy.
I have plenty of experience with all kinds of animal and have been doing housesitting, dog walking, and training for multiple years. Growing up we had dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & fish. Unfortunately, as I live in a non-pet friendly flat I am unable to do home stays. One of my main reasons for wanting to begin housesitting again is how much I miss my own dogs back home! I have had to compensate and now have 4x fish tanks and frogs in the flat to attempt to make up for the lack of cats and dogs - its definetly not the same.
I am very confident around all kinds of dogs and as one of my dogs is reactive I am used to managing that as well. I am free for housesitting any day of the week and will happily stay for long lengths of time. Whilst in your home I can water any plants, bring in the mail, put bins out and anything else to make it easy for you once you return! Whilst you’re away you dog will get at least one walk a day and I’m happy to do some training as well to brush up on their manners. I am also experienced in giving medication to both cats and dogs. During home visits I will make sure to actually spend some time hanging out with your pets so it’s not just a drop by to put food in their bowl. I do have a part time job on Saturday 9-5:30 so am unavailable to do walks during these times. I am more than happy to still housesit over the weekend but please be aware your pet will be alone for that period of time (unless close to the plaza and I can go back at lunch)
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I look forward to meeting you and your pets!
Lucy did a week-long home stay for us & we came home to the house looking exactly as we left it which was pleasing. There was good communication while we were away & the animals seemed happy when we returned.
Toby is a high energy dog and is very expressive, but nothing seemed to phase her which was a huge tick for me. Toby was very happy when he returned from his walk. Thanks Lucy you’re a gem!
