Kia ora e te whanau
I'm motivated to walk dogs and look after cats by my experiences of animal companionship being linked to self-care. Through their enthusiasm and individual personalities, time spent with animals can keep us in the present. Dogs can also get us exercising more!
I am a working parent with a high-school age daughter. I'm also motivated to teach my daughter the skills that can be learned through pet sitting--compassion, commitment, planning & communication. Originally from America, we've lived in Wellington for nearly 16 years & call Aotearoa home.
Our family pets are our 2 cats, Ivy and Daisy. I've previously been dog mum to Ziggy, a Tibetan spaniel and two rescued Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Rowan and Wiggins. I grew up with cats and dogs in the home as well.
I've previously done an obedience training course with my dog Rowan, and also took him on visits to aged care homes to do pet therapy with elderly residents. Finally, when my husband and I moved to Wellington we were regular volunteers at the SPCA (then located in Newtown).
I am looking for temporary cat and dog sitting jobs. I can consider part time dog walking work that can take place in the evenings and weekends. I have experience feeding cats in owners' homes in the Eastern suburbs through Pawshake--please check out my reviews.
We can't take dogs into our home at this stage but we are building a fence in our garden so perhaps soon.
I'm fit and can ensure dogs get plenty of exercise. My level of experience with walking more than two dogs at once is limited.
Thanks for looking at my profile! Please note some travel expenses may be charged for areas beyond the Eastern suburbs e.g. Wellington South (Berhampore, Island Bay, Owhiro Bay) and others.
