About me
Hi! I'm Hannah, working from home as a children's book author, publisher, podcaster, and mum to two children and three fur babies in Burnside, Christchurch. I look forward to giving your pets a cosy and loving home away from home in a pet-friendly property, so you can have complete peace of mind while you're away.

Your pet's stay with me
Living in Christchurch, my dog, Duchess, and I take our daily walks around Burnside Park, a short, two-minute walk from our home for usually a minimum of 30-45 minutes. When we have a bit more time we like to get to the North New Brighton beach, McLeans Island forest, Halswell Quarry and Roto Kohatu Reserve for longer walks of over an hour. I'm an active person and require a lot of exercise, so, I hope your dog will enjoy some fun excursions with me! Duchess is 13 now and can't do the same adventures we used to and I'm sure she'd like to share the load!

I'll structure the walks around your preferences and your dog's needs. On-leash or off is an option, but, I prefer to keep them on-leash until I'm confident we're well-bonded, have effective recall and are in a safe place for a good run and play. Your pet's safety and enjoyment are paramount for a happy mini-break.

We can offer your pets a warm spot by the fire to stretch out, and the safety and security of a fully fenced backyard with plenty of space to move around and mature trees for shade if it's hot. 

As I work from home, they'll have constant company, supervision and two animal-loving children to give them plenty of extra attention. We'll send you daily photo updates of what we get up to. A great time is guaranteed!

*I'm also conveniently located 5 minutes from Christchurch Airport if you're travelling by plane. For short trips, you're welcome to park your vehicle by my property.

My experience
I've shared a lifetime with animals of all shapes and sizes spending most of my life living on farms and tending to the care of both domestic and farm animals. Growing up in the country, my dogs, cats, horses, pet lambs and pet calves were my constant companions and best mates.

I later went on to run a farm and am well-practised in the general care, training, welfare, first aid, and administration of treatments for all kinds of ailments and injuries. Should your ewe need midwifery skills, I'm your woman! But, I hope it won't come to that ... My own pets have ensured that I've earned a PhD in belly rubs, ear scratches, fun adventures and that their meals are served on time, every time, without fail!

Things to consider
I'm happy to accept pets that are vaccinated and safe around children, cats, and other dogs. Let me know the details of their known commands, handling and behavioural information, and the contact details of their vet. The better I know them, the more fun we can have and it's most important to me that you feel confident your much-loved fur baby is relaxed and happy in the safest possible hands. I look forward to meeting you and your dog!

What to bring
- Their bed (I can also provide one)
- Collar/harness and lead
- Food, treats or toys they love
- Dog poo bags
- Any medications or treatments they may need during their stay.
