The daily lives of my 22-year-old daughter Erin and myself have always centered around animals, the more the merrier! We currently have a Jack Russell-Chihuahua cross, two cats, four chickens (over ten years old), a raft of adopted ducks, and two horses. In the past we've also had rabbits and taken care of parakeets and guinea pigs.
Even better, Erin has just finished her third year of the veterinary program at Massey, so her future with animals is assured! She volunteered at the Waikanae SPCA for several years and is a competitive horse rider as well. The two of us also both recently attended training to be part of the national registry of marine mammal rescue medics.
Coming home for the summer, Erin is looking to spend even more time caring for animals of all shapes, sizes, and sounds, whether for daily visits or while housesitting. In previous summers she has housesat on lifestyle blocks, taking care of horses, cats, and dogs, and even moving livestock. Meanwhile, I work from home as a freelance editor, and I love taking regular breaks to get my pet fix. I'm usually off to the paddock once or twice a day, with stops to walk our dog along the river or the beach.
Between the two of us, Erin and I are happy to offer reliable, flexible, and attentive 45-minute+ in-home visits with play time, cuddles, and feeding as desired. We also can exercise your dog with 30-minute+ local walks and provide some basic training, always, always using positive reinforcement.
We know it can be very stressful to entrust your pets to someone else's care, but we consider it our privilege and our passion to give every animal we meet the affection and care they deserve. We hope we can help out you and your pets when you need it. Thank you.
Rachel is a great pet sitter. She is reliable and very knowledgable about animals. My puppy is always happy to see her and I know he is in great hands when he is with her.
