About Cameron
* Please note we are unable to accomodate larger dogs at our home (over 10kg approximately). We have been getting repeated requests for this and it's really hard having to turn people away. Thank you for your understanding.
Kia ora,
My name is Cameron. I moved to New Plymouth in 2021 with my partner who is a Taranaki local, and we are loving living here with our two dogs (Emmy and Archie). If you're a regular at Back Beach we may have crossed paths already, as we love the beach.
I am confident, comfortable, and experienced working with most animals, and have immensely enjoyed my work with Pawshake so far. Please read on for specific points related to my services, and get in touch if there is anything else I can help you with.
I hope to hear from you soon!

Key points relevant to all services:
· I have a psychology degree and sit firmly on the side of positive
reinforcement training, as opposed to any form of negative reinforcement/punishment. I am happy to follow your advice with how you train your pets, but am not comfortable with any form of harsh discipline.
· I am somewhat allergic to cats. This means that, while I am happy to care
for them, I will not interact with them closely compared to other animals.
· As per the Pawshake policy, we will arrange a meet and greet
before any services are completed. I would suggest completing the standard
Pawshake paperwork - this gives me excellent information about your pets and provides you with pet insurance coverage during the service.
Overnight Sitting (in your home)
· I work from home, which means that I can spend most of my day with
your pets.
· I will follow your usual routines, as outlined by you.
· I am very active and confident walking strong dogs. Walks as per your
normal routines are included in my overnight sitting service.
· I can usually be flexible with arrival and departure times, as suit you.
Dog Boarding and Dog Daycare:
· We (my partner and I) have two small dogs living in our home, which is a lovely warm house built new in 2020. We do not have other flatmates or animals.
· We have a fully fenced section and a dog door for those who know how to use one.
· We can only provide this service for smaller dogs (generally up to around 10kg), unless otherwise discussed and agreed under special circumstances.
· While our dogs generally love friends, we will need a meet and
greet with your dog/s first to check they get on amicably with ours. If there
are signs that any of the dogs would be stressed with the arrangement, it will not be able to go ahead – this is for the wellbeing of everyone involved.
· Day boarding is for 8 hours and only available weekdays, unless otherwise discussed.
Other things to note:
· I play football from February to August, meaning I have 2x
trainings and 1x game per week. We can discuss if you’re happy for me to be away during those times, with potential my partner can pop in if needed.
· I occasionally require access to Sky Sport for my work. If you have this available in your home there is no reason I would ever need to leave for work purposes; if not, I may occasionally need to duck home to complete these tasks. I am happy to discuss this more with you.
· If you are located outside of the central New Plymouth suburbs (e.g., Bell Block, Oakura, Inglewood, or further afield) I may ask for a small contribution to milage costs. I am happy to discuss this rate with you, as it will vary depending on length of stay.
