About Anne
Hi, there is 4 of us living in the house, myself and my husband, our twin neices who are in their mid 20s
We love our shared lives with our babies and know how important it is to be able to trust them with others when we travel.
We have several animals of our own, three well walked dogs, 8 chickens whom happily stay at home with family if we are at yours.
Our walks often consist of some lead walking with gentle training and taking time to get to know the dog. There is a bit of footpath walking then into bush and tracks. This is from our home. I am often out in the wider reachers of the Nelson region and doing tracks all round the regions.
Other walks included daily are around our back track area again on lead and some off lead if they are good with recall. This walk is anywhere from 30 minutes to as long as 2 hours.
So any given day there is about 1.5 hours walking, if your dogs is older, injured or just wishes not to do this much we will reduce and take note.
We are all good at understanding dog behaviour in our home and when out walking. Due to having 3 dogs every walk is a small pack walk.
With dogs staying with us we are happy to walk in smaller groups like two at a time to help with control. This also means as I have 3 dogs who know the areas and they help with giving the rules etc to the new babies.
We do enjoy a romp down some of the beach spots around the town, I love going to the Glenduan to watch the waves and enjoy the track, dogs love the sniffs and fun. The maitai track for a wander with the dogs. So we are not limited to just one place.
For at our home stays we prefer a later afternoon 5, 6 or 7pm drop off and pick up times with dogs, preference is already well walked and this allows a better understanding of how the house works for them. It is normally quieter around this time. We are able to do a short walk with owners then along the tack to get an idea of the best commands and behaviors.
I would like an introduction with your dog first to assess temperament for them coming into my home followed by a visit just a nice short one for all to meet.
Our home is occupied the majority of the time. We all have different rousters and shifts throughout the week.
This works in well for most dogs in a different environment. Playing and enriching their lives in the back yard and sometimes just chilling out on the bean bag getting snuggles.
We have a good fenced back yard with lots of undercover area to sit. Our dogs have full access to the home and back yard. They sleep where works for them, with the ability to set up a crate if wanted in. Please provide. Also their favorite blanket is a good idea to help them settle.
Happy to come to your home or maybe sit your babies in our home depending on the fit and we prefer vaccinated dogs. Comfortable to walk in your local area where the dog knows. Also happy to transport for situation.
We will only take one dog at home at a time due to the nature of a busy house with 3 other dogs already. This is about safety for all. This allows the dogs to have a good time and helps them fit in with the training routines and become relaxed quickly.
