Hi there!
I'm a Canadian gal here in NZ - we have a hilariously outgoing toy poodle puppy (just turned 1 year) who loves loves LOVES playing with other dogs... even with doggy day care 3 days a week, he still acts like he's never seen another dog when we head to the beach or dog park every night lol
Back home in Canada I raised guide dog puppies for children with autism (volunteer two year position) that introduced me to the lovely world of proper pet ownership - training classes, best behaviour practices and *always* being one step ahead of distractions gave me a really solid background in dog training, which I then went on to do professionally for several months before moving out of country.
When my partner and I moved to NZ we got a puppy within a few months, and through lockdown did most of our basic training and got all the puppy cuddles🥰 we're not ready yet to get a second dog, but we know ours would love a buddy to play with when we tire of throwing that darn tennis ball for him lol (he would chase it all day, I'm almost sure of it)
Services:
Pet sitting - your place
I offer overnight or daily check ins at your home (Nelson, Stoke, Richmond).
If it's a day that I would normally work, I would leave for my 4h shift and then return.
Pet sitting - our place
We have a preference for hypoallergenic small dogs in our home.
We have a 2bdm detached flat in the campground we work in, with a big park across the road and daily trips to the beach or dog park.
It's only my partner and I that live in the house, we have a second bedroom thats nearly empty except for a desk where we could have the second dog's bed overnight if he/she didn't want to sleep in the common area or in our room.
As mentioned, we have a toy poodle puppy who loves other dogs, but we would love to do a meet and greet ahead of time to ensure the pups will get along.
A typical weekday (thurs-mon) for us is working 2-4h, with a midday break, and one of us being home in the evenings.
Weekends (tues, we) we are home all say or out with the pets in nature.
Let me know if you have any further questions!
Thanks so much for looking after our two pups! Great communication:)
As mentioned previously I raised service dogs in Canada, so if there is any basic training I can help with (ie. leash pulling, basic commands) then I would be happy to help if possible.
