*Please note I am planning an extended trip and will be leaving in April, so I am not suitable for long term bookings*
Hi there, my name is Sara, I'm yet to meet an animal I don't adore and I’ve devoted my work, academic, and social life to improving the lives of cats and dogs.
I live with my three-year-old Jack Russell x Toy Poodle, Marcy, who loves other dogs as much as I do. I sometimes bring her along for house visits and walks, if that's something your pet would enjoy.
To give you a little bit of background about me:
I’m recently back in Hamilton after finishing my Masters degree at the University of Auckland where I worked with hundreds of dogs, investigating new methods of improving their welfare
I spent the last three years working in an veterinary clinic and cattery, as well as holidays working for an Auckland based pet care company specialising in dog walks, house visits, and dog boarding
I also have a New Zealand certificate in animal care specialising in cats and dogs (including a first aid component)
I’m well versed in evidence-based dog training methods (with a focus on positive reinforcement). I’m confident administering medications, have experience with young puppies and fractious cats. My schedule is very flexible at the moment, and as such I am often avaliable to spend 24/7 with your pet, or do multiple house visits/walks a day.
If it sounds like I might be a good fit for your animal, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. I know how hard it is to trust your pets with someone new, but kennels and catteries do not compare to the comfort and safety of staying in their own home! I have worked with all breeds and sizes of cats and dogs. I cater my stays around your pet's temperament and their regular schedule to make them as comfortable as possible, including walking, feeding, playing and cuddles, and i’m happy to send all the pictures and updates you need to feel assured your animal is safe and happy.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Great service quick response
I can't recommend Sara highly enough! The moment she met our 10 year old fox terrier, Bella, it appeared like they were long lost friends and there was an instant connection, which isn't how Bella treats everyone on first meeting! Sara has an obvious affinity and way with animals and we couldn't have asked for more in a pet sitter. Sara stayed in our house while we were away for 8 nights and also kept an eye on our small lifestyle block; she was completely trustworthy and did a fantastic job of looking after everything. It was wonderful to be away knowing Bella was well cared for, and to get the regular updates from Sara. We wouldn't hesitate in having Sara to house/ pet sit again.
