About Kelsie June

Kia ora! Hi everyone! My name is Kelsie June, I'm 32, and from the United States. After living in Australia for 2 years, I decided it was time for a change of scenery, so on New Year's Day 2025, New Zealand became my new home. I will begin studying to get my Master's at the University of Otago in January 2026!

I started pet/house sitting professionally back in 2018. I pet-sat intermittently throughout the years between living abroad and my travels, and would build solid client bases when I found myself settled in a place for a longer period. I recently spent a few months visiting family back in the States, and picked up my pet-sitting business. I have included a few screenshots of reviews I received during that time.

By 2021, I was pet-sitting/dog walking full-time, establishing a growing pet care business in Tampa, Florida, before I left for Australia. The majority of my clients were repeat customers, and I developed strong connections with them; a few even became close friends! During that time, I also worked for a pet care company that primarily focused on dog walking, but we also provided drop-in visits for cats, fish, guinea pigs, and rabbits.

Aside from pet/house sitting professionally, I grew up with many different animals: dogs, cats, horses, fish, hamsters, ferrets, guinea pigs, chickens, goats...You name it!

Although I'm new to Pawshake, I have plenty of references that I have accumulated over the years that I am happy to share. I currently work from home teaching English, so my schedule is very flexible. I want to spend time with your pet(s)! I prefer not to leave them alone for more than 3-4 hours (unless there are special circumstances and I need to be away longer, which we can discuss beforehand). Rest assured, they will receive lots of attention!

While caring for your pet(s) in your home, I will keep a close eye on them so no mischief ensues! I will closely follow whatever guidelines/safety precautions you set forth and typically adhere to. Please let me know if you crate your pet when you leave or if they're free to roam while you're away.

The bulk of my experience is caring for dogs. This includes dogs of all ages, from rambunctious pups to lovably grumpy senior dogs. All with different needs and temperaments. My experience isn't limited to dogs, though! I have cared for many feisty felines, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, fish, and so forth. And more recently, I looked after my landlord's two young Highland cows while they were away, and it was amazing!

And let's not forget about plants! I was an aspiring plant mom/mum before I left the US, and worked at a landscaping company when I lived in Australia, so I'll be a big fan of any leafy children you may have and am happy to look after them as well :)

Things I'd Like to Know About Your Dog/Pet:

I'd like to know your pet's schedule, and I will do my best to stick to it. This could include:

  • What time/how many times does your pet eat a day?
  • Do they have trouble eating while you're away because of separation anxiety, or do they eat when hungry. Please let me know if they're on a special diet or if they tend to eat random things in the house or yard.
  • Is your pet prone to accidents? And how often do they typically go out to relieve themselves?
  • Dog parks? Yay or nay?
  • How well does your dog do on a lead, and how many walks do you usually take them on per day? Also, how long are the walks typically?
  • Are they major lead pullers, or will they try to take off and drag me with them at the first sight of a bird or other critter?
  • How do they handle encountering other dogs/humans on walks?

Additionally, I’d like to know any other quirks or habits your pet may have!

I have experience administering medications, special diets/vitamins, and basic grooming.
