My name is Jenna and I am a post-grad student at the University of Otago. This year I am doing my Honours in Zoology with a dissertation project on native frogs!
I love all animals and have owned a range of pets such as dogs, cats, fish, geckos, fish, and mice! I also have professional experience with animals from working at a wildlife park where I was lucky enough to work with native birds, trout and other farm animals (such as sheep, pigs, deer, and goats). I currently have a 6 year old border collie rescue dog, and an elderly spaniel who I am fostering.
I volunteer with a local dog rescue charity by fostering pound dogs until their forever home is found. through this, I have met and cared for a range of dogs from 12 weeks old to 10+ years old. It has provided me with experience with many dog breeds and personalities too. This work is very rewarding and I love to be able to help these dogs have a second chance.
Being a student, I can offer walks or visits during the day, most weekdays. So if you have a new puppy or find your pet needs some attention while you're at work, I can assist. I can give medication, and do basic grooming (nails and brushing) if requested!
House-sitting: I'll stay overnight with your pet, ensuring they receive love and attention while you're away. Feeding, cleaning (toileting trays etc.), and walking is included.
Dog walking: Depending on your dog's needs, I can adapt the walk I take them on. As I have cared for older dogs, I'm able to notice behavioural changes when they have had enough or may be getting sore. I am also a keen hiker, so can take your dog on a longer adventure if this is what they need. Otherwise, a nice stroll around the streets is possible too. My dog loves swimming so on hot days I try and take him somewhere to cool off, which I can bring your dog along if they also enjoy swimming!
House visits: time spent will vary slightly based on my schedule, but I will ensure your pet is fed, and receives love and pats (if they want them). I can spend a minimum of 30 mins, give or take.
Currently, as my own dog is getting older and a bit arthritic, I cannot offer sleepovers or daycare at my house. However, I’more than happy to spend the night with your animals to keep them company!
I want to be a pet sitter as I believe I am trustworthy, caring and experienced with many different animals. I want to provide a safe and trustworthy service for people who want to leave their pets in good hands, as this is what I look for with my own pets. It is hard enough to leave our pets behind when we go away, but knowing your pet will be well cared for makes it that little bit easier! I always aim to send daily updates and pictures when I can.
Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing from you! :-)
Jenna was absolutely fantastic with our dog smokey! She house sat while we were away, kept us updated with messages and photos and even took him for a couple of swims on hot days (his favorite activity)
Jenna was friendly and looked after our senior dog well. She gave us updates while we were away so we knew how our girl was doing. Would use her again.
