Hello, my name is Olive!
I am an Animal Welfare and Society student from UK, currently on a gap year in NZ, offering house sitting services in which I will take care of your companion animal/s from your home, whilst you’re away.
I believe that all animals, like human beings, have intrinsic value and deserve to be treated with respect, kindness, and love. It is my mission in life to make a difference in this world and I believe that pet sitting is one of the small, but very important ways in which I can do this.
Growing up with a variety of animals, including dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and fish, I have a deep love of caring for others that I am eager to share. Though I am new to this website, I have experience of looking after not only my own animals, but pet sitting for family and friends, and through House Sitters UK and Kiwi House Sitters (in which you can access my reviews).
In addition to pet sitting, I have undertaken voluntary placements at kennels and catteries, Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens, Duster's Ark Animal Sanctuary in the UK, The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary in Otaki and Te Paranui animal sanctuary near Picton. Over the course of these experiences I have been responsible for caring for a variety of animals, including: cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, cockatoos, pigeons, hedgehogs, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, donkeys and miniature ponies, as well as administering oral medications. Prior to pursuing my degree, I achieved a City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Animal Care, in which I trained as a dog groomer at Pets at Home, in the Uk.
I am a lover of tranquillity, and in my spare time, as well as caring for animals, I enjoy immersing myself in the beauty of nature and going on walking trips. During previous summer breaks I have taken part in the West Highland Way and Coast to Coast nature trail expeditions. I am also a very keen nature photographer and enjoy vegan baking, cooking, knitting and crochet.
I have often been described as reliable, kind, patient, and a good time keeper. I am open to looking after animals of any age and of any kind, for whatever period of time you need, and I am confident I will be able to accommodate their needs and interests, including medication if required. I am also happy to provide regular photo updates of your pets, for peace of mind.
As well as taking care of your companions, I will of course keep your home clean and tidy, and would be more than willing to help with housework and upkeep.
I am currenly staying in Hastings, but I am happy to travel anywhere in NZ as long as it is accessible by public transport, since I don't drive. If you’re interested and would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact me! I look forward to hearing from you.
