I have been surrounded by pets and their love for my whole life - mature dogs and puppies, young kittens and older cats, hamsters, mice, fish, a bearded dragon, a rabbit, frogs, a turtle... I just absolutely love animals, and I truly enjoy taking care of them, since I have never been without animals in my life - even right now, though I have only just arrived in New Zealand; my hosts have a lovely mature dog, a wild cat, and 10 cows (plus a brand new calf)!
During in-home visits I have no issue with feeding or caring for other animals in the home if needed, such as reptiles, cats or fish! If younger or more athletic dogs require more exercise, I am quite happy to run with them, or take them to a park, or even just play in the backyard and throw a ball or frisbee around! That being said, I do also really enjoy the time I spend with calmer or older pets, who just want to be cuddled, fed, and brushed. I have personal experience with mixing medication in a sick animal’s food, as well as some experience caring for injured pets.
I do hope I can meet your pet and give them some love while you are away, and keep them company until you come home :)

I volunteered with sick and injured turtles in Cairns, Australia, 3 years ago. Most of my job was in food prep - cleaning and cutting fish, and removing cartilage and whatnot from shrimp and squid. I also spent time scrubbing and petting the turtles as well as cleaning their enclosures.
