Hi there, my name is Sara, I’m 26, I live in Epsom, and of course, I adore animals! I’ve devoted my work, academic, and social life to improving the lives of dogs, and I’m always happy to have new pups vacation with us!
I live with my partner (who also loves dogs) and our two-year-old Jack Russell x Toy Poodle, Marcy. We live in a small house with a very secure fully fenced yard in a very dog friendly neighbourhood. Marcy loves other dogs as much as we do, but for her safety (and given the size of our house) we can only accommodate small (or very calm larger) dogs, who are comfortable around small energetic dogs.
To give you a little bit of background about me:
I’m currently working part time at a veterinary clinic and cattery
I spend the holidays working for an Auckland based pet care company specialising in dog walks, house visits, and dog boarding
I have a New Zealand certificate in animal care (including a first aid component)
I’m currently working on my masters thesis in evolutionary psychology at the University of Auckland. I’ve been working with a huge number of dogs of all breeds studying how they experience joy.
I’m well versed in evidence-based dog training methods (with a focus on positive reinforcement). I’m confident administering medications, have experience with young puppies, and have all the toys and balls a dog could want (toy destruction is anticipated ).
I also live across the road from an excellent veterinary clinic in case of an emergency and we’re close to three large parks which I like to alternate between to keep things interesting. I generally do one long walk each day, but I’m happy to adapt to your dog’s energy levels.
Please note I am out of the house for brief clinic shifts and lab work for 2-3 hours at a time, 3-4 days a week. Depending on the days you are booking, your dog will need to be comfortable being left unaccompanied for brief periods. Also, please ensure your dog is reasonably toilet trained (other than crate training puppies) and is up to date with worm/flea treatments and vaccinations.
If we sound like a good fit for your dog, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. I know how hard it is to leave your beloved pooch with someone new, but kennel environments do not compare to staying with a loving family! I’m happy to send all the pictures and updates you need to feel assured your dog is safe and happy.
Hope to hear from you soon!
That was brilliant! Sara took care of Bivy and accepted her on such short notice, too.
Pup came back happy and knackered :)
